Vianne could have floated off the ground with dizzy happiness when Tony kissed her. She reached out to cup his face in her hand for a moment before she turned to smile at Ellie.
"Enchantee, my dear. I am sorry we are so late in making your acquaintance, but..." she shrugged lightly. "We did not feel the time was right, to return to Paris, until now."

Sophie, drink in hand, was chatting with a young man from a family that had made a fortune in overseas trades when she caught sight of her friend, Kat, dancing with the King of England. Sophie's eyebrow's shot up in surprise, though she was also delighted at the same time. She hadn't known that Kat was acquainted with a Tudor.
She would have to bother her about it later. As a friend, of course.

Percy smiled at the beautiful young woman his son had married, and the charm and grandeur of the Pimpernel shone through his smile.
"Bagads, m'dear boy, you could not have picked a finer example of the female specimen, what?" he declared, bowing over Ellen's hand.
"She's adorable, Tony, quite the catch. I do hope you'll keep him in line, m'dear," he drawled, smiling at Ellen. "Odd's fish, someone has to!"
Then he turned to his son.
"Yes," he said in that gentle golden voice his family only heard, "we are well indeed."

"I, um... it's wonderful to finally meet you both," she finally decided on saying, though she said it in a bit of an astonished tone.
She had to resist the urge to fuss over his hair, and then she had to bite down a slightly-bashful smile. She still wasn't quite used to being complimented, and likely never would be.
"I can see where you got your charm from." She said to Tony, with just a hint of dryness.

Vianne took a breath and glanced at Ellie's face for a moment before she spoke to them both.
"We may as well come out with it, right away--no use pretending it doesn't exist...Tony...your father and I..."
She pressed her lips together for a moment before continuing to speak.
"...have joined the ranks of the undead."
She attempted a smile, her pointed fangs shining for a moment.

In a moment, Tony felt all of fifteen years old.
"Heh...well," he shrugged, smiling at Ellie's comment before he heard his mother speak quietly.
"You WHAT?"

Percy sighed and gave his wife a very stern mock-glare.
"Zounds, madame, that was hardly the way to put them at ease, what? Our poor son is probably undergoing the illusion that we're zombies!"
He then caught a glance at his wife's fangs.
Turning to his son, he raised an eyebrow.
"I trust your mother is being blunt, as she typically is. Are you clear?" he added, with a gentle look at Ellen.

"The last time I came close to meeting the Blakeneys was when they came to Grandmama's wedding to Grandfather, and de Chagnys... well, they're practically royalty." She remembered who she was talking to. "Though not quite, of course." He laughed. "I know what you mean. Those names have become rather legendary, not just here in Paris, but also in other parts of France. Who knows just what stories are real and what ones are pure invention..."

"It's nothing to worry about, darling!" she reassured Tony. "Truly. We've been this way for...some time, now."
She smiled at Ellie.
"Do you live in Paris, now? Do you still spend time at Richmond at all?" she said, cheerily trying to make conversation.

Tony let out a low whistle, shaking his head slightly.
"Well, it's certainly no worse than that time Mother got possessed by Marguerite, I suppose."

"We split our time," she said amicably, smiling. Her mother had had some vampire friends when she was little; the fangs really didn't unsettle her.
Then she heard what her husband had said. "Goodness, your family history is far more colorful than mine."

With a keen look at his son, Percy drew him a little way from the women.
"Are you all right?" he asked, blue eyes dark with concern. "I understand it might be somewhat of a shock."

He laughed. "I know what you mean. Those names have become rather legendary, not just here in Paris, but also in other parts of France. Who knows just what stories are real and what ones are pure invention..." "Oh, you'd be surprised what the French get up to, or anyone for that matter. At a certain point the stories get so ridiculous that they have to be true."

"H--have you any children?" Vianne asked, smiling, but almost shy as she felt she might be interrogating the poor girl. "I know we ought to have written, but we felt then we'd have to explain about...us--and so we put it off, and then it just got harder to make the attempt, and, well..."

Tony nodded numbly for a moment.
"I'll be fine." He took a flute of champagne from the tray of a passing servant and drank half of it in a go without flinching, though his nose did twitch from the bubbles.
"Er...I don't suppose you...drink? Champagne?"
