*This was not the sort of opera Kirk remembered from being forced to see some for music appreciation. But it was hardly any stranger than any other culture's entertainment.
And at least it seemed that future women were not immune to his charms. She was clearly enjoying the show, however, so he left it at that, for now.
When the lights came up for intermission, he didn't move.*
"Can I get you anything, Kaylee?"

*She grinned.*
"D'you think they have champagne?" *she asked, gleeful, but almost timid. She hadn't had champagne for ages!*

*Krik leaned back, shock painting his features.*
"It would be unforgivable indeed if they didn't, don't you think? I'll be back, Miss Frye; try not to get too bored."
*He smiled winningly and left the box, in search of goodies. Champagne was easy, as was a little plate of hors d'oeuvres. He was back within minutes, gallantly offering her his conquests.*

*She grinned, taking a glass.*
"You're too kind, cap'n," *she said with a delighted giggle.*

"Not at all," *he said.* "For you are very fine company yourself. How do you like the entertainment?"

"Oh, I love it! It's so different from anything I've seen." *She took a sip of champagne happily.*
"All the fightin' and action- I didn't think this was what opera was like at all."

((Damn--Kirk's last post was 69. I missed it!))
"It... usually isn't," *he said.* "Either my Earth History class was wrong, or something strange has happened to time. But I'm glad you like it. It sounds like you see enough fighting as it is, though."

((Hehe! Kaylee's on 69 now. Well, 70 as soon as I push send. XD))
"Well, yes, but nothing like this, you know. This is so ridiculous! I love it."
*She laughed.*
"And I won't even talk about the costumes!"

((Both on 70? They are so MFEO.))
*Kirk cracked a smile as well.*
"Not to be a stickler, but I'm fairly certain that showing so much flesh is anachronistic in this time--at least, according to the history I was taught. But I see it pleases my lady."
*He smirked charmingly at her.*

*She couldn't help but laugh.*
"Well I like 'em, even if they ain't exactly fitting for the time. Why d'you think it all seems so different? Seems to me, the history you learned about wasn't exactly what happened. "

"At least... not this time," *he said. He'd had experience with different time streams before.* "Could be we changed something--or someone did--by coming here. Since I'm pretty sure we weren't supposed to be here when it happened."

*She shrugged with a slight frown.*
"I don't know anything about that."

*He smiled.*
"Not in your job description, is it? No matter; we won't worry about it."
*He sipped some champagne.*
"Enough to be here now, eh?"

*She nodded.* "Didn't think time travel was possible, 'til yesterday."
*She took a sip of the champagne with a smile.* "Exactly. Why worry?"

"Perhaps it wasn't," *he said, smiling at his own joke.* "Anyway, I've encountered it before."
*His eyes smiled at her above the rim of his glass.*
"And I... never... worry."
