*She shook her head.*
"Nah. I mean, when I was born they told my parents that it was purely cosmetic. The only problem is if I get vain about it, and I mean, seriously. It's a bump on my arm. People have asked me if I have leprosy, if I've been burned... it gets a lot of wierd looks but I don't mind. It's how I learned left from right." *She babbled merrily.*

Erik smiled and stifled a small laugh at Micaela's babbling. He was pleased that she was able to overcome the physical oddity on her arm. However, he also couldn't help but feel a bit uncomfortable. He had not been able to see a positive side in his deformity.
"Well, I think it is about time to take my leave." Erik said walking towards a nearby trapdoor. "Otherwise, you may never get that violin." he added, his voice lighter. He then began to descend the stairs that the trapdoor revealed.

"Alright then!" *She said happily, before snapping her fingers and appearing in her own room with a 'pop'.*

**NEW NIGHT**
*Kirk led Kaylee to a seat in one of the boxes, surprised by the noise of all the people around them. Apparently, this opera was very popular.*
"Can I get you anything, Miss Kaylee?"

((Ack, sorry! I didn't see this the other day!))
*Kaylee grinned happily.*
"Could a girl want anything more?" *She asked, her eyes sweeping over the auditorium- It was so fancy! Not to mention the extremely handsome man sitting next to her.*

((No! I only posted it yesterday/this morning; you weren't late at all, and I meant to let you know anyway.))
"I hear they have drinks that bubble," *he said conspiratorially.* "But you seem bubbly enough for both of us. Ever been anyplace like this before?"

"I went to a ball once," *she said.* "It was a real fancy shindig- they had all sortsa food and ladies and gentlemen and dancing. It was wonderful!"
*She had no intention of telling him the Mal nearly wound up killed in a duel or that the so called ladies were extremely rude.*

"I bet it was," *he said, smiling. She was so earnest.* "That doesn't seem to be your native environment, does it? Where are you from, Kaylee?"

*She laughed musically.*
"It sure ain't, sir. I'm from Paqin," *she said.* "My folks are farmers. So fancy balls and operas ain't exactly normal for me."
((I just grabbed a planet name off the firefly wiki. I don't remember anyone mentioning where she's from on the show.))

((I don't remember either, don't worry about it.))
"Really? Me too--but here, on Earth. In Iowa, actually--across an ocean from here. It seems we took a similar path, Kaylee. What made you take to the stars?"

"Never planned to. I'm good with machines. I can know what wrong with 'em, and usually fix 'em. It's like they're talkin' to me- tellin me the problem."
*She grinned.*
"That got me on Serenity, a year or so back and I never wanted nothin' more."

*Kirk's heart warmed to her winning manner and innocent skill. A pretty girl who was good with machines? That was a novelty.*
"That... is quite a talent," *he said.* "I bet you're very useful."
*The lights dimmed and the sound of an orchestra tuning emerged from the pit.*

*Midway through the first Act, if you could call it that, Kirk stretched and let his arm fall behind Kaylee, settling casually about her shoulders. This opera was weird. Not at all what he'd been expecting.*

*Kaylee watched the opera with interest. She liked it- especially the costumes. When she felt his arms around her, she leaned against him with a smile.*
