*A sister? Irene had not mentioned one.
He refused to let Lecter's questions rile him. He'd been trained, after all, to keep himself out of trouble.*
"Quite ordinary. Country squire's family, one older brother, rather distant parents and a nanny. All very regular, from a British perspective." *He knew this was not what Lecter sought.* "I have always had an... analytical turn of mind. It does not always recommend me to friends."

"Indeed."
*Hannibal understood all too well.*
"And such a mind has...complicated your other relationships as well? Never one to seduce young ladies? At least...not intentionally."

*Holmes quirked an eyebrow.*
"I believe you said quid pro quo, Doctor."

*Hannibal smiled slightly.*
A smart one indeed, I'll have to up the stakes quicker than I would have liked.
"Apparently the man is quite...virile. He was convicted on child molestation. Although it may have been rooted in his desire for his sister."
*He pursed his lips for a moment.*
"He wanted her, you see. Sexually. He took her brutally, when they were younger."
*He looked very casual about it.*
"It would seem that such desire can blossom from the smallest sting."
*His smile hid softly in the corner of his mouth.*
Where did Ms. Adler sting you?
"And how is it that you came into the service of Ms. Adler? She must be paying you well for your assistance, although I doubt that its something that fits in your wallet."

Are the sister and Irene linked in some way?
*Holmes' features became even more stony, if that was possible.*
"Ms. Adler is an old acquaintance of mine. That is all. If my attention to her seems excessive, it is no more than I give any client; and there are many circumstances under which I do not collect payment. Of any kind."
*His voice was cold.*
"Now. Do you make a connection between this Dracula's perversion and his interest in Ms. Adler?"

Touchy subject, eh?
*Hannibal shrugged slightly.*
"Who can say? She is a woman that has spent much of her life in control. She is strong and alluring. It is only natural that some predators would find such features appealing. After all...she is quite a catch. But as for Verger's sister...they both seem very passionate, willing to go as far as it takes to get what they want. It's a possibility that she reminds him of Margot."
*His eyes lowered for a moment.*
"So is Ms. Adler a client or an acquaintance? Not quite the same thing. You had business together, but this...this is not business that reunites you after such a long time. Well...not your business directly. Her business, if her safety and sanity can be called business. Please, tell me how you met."

"Ms. Adler was indirectly connected to a former client of mine; circumstances, which are still too delicate to divulge, placed us at odds, but there was no animosity in the case. I respected her highly at the time, and was only too glad to be of assistance to her when we met again. She is possessed of a remarkable will and spirit, and I have met few like her.
"But really, Dr. Lecter, whom Ms. Adler does or does not remind Dracula of is immaterial when contrasted to the very physical danger he presents. Not that I can expect that to mean very much to you. The man seems to have incredible strength and much at his command. But no man is without weakness. What is his?"

*Hannibal smiled slightly.*
“Well, speaking of weakness in the purest form, I assume it would be obvious. He seems to have one modus operandi. He is driven by one thing, no? He may have base instinct, need for sustenance and shelter, but all of his conscious effort seems to be fixated on Miss Adler. She is his greatest weakness. Surely a man as clever as yourself will manage a method of exploitation, should you desire to do so. That is…if you are indifferent enough to distance yourself from any harm that such a plan might place her in.”
*He nodded his head slightly.*
“I’m sure you will do fine.”
*He pursed his lips and shifted his gaze.*
“So if you are not in Paris for Miss Adler, what brought you to this fair city? You are so far from home.”

*Holmes' grey eyes burned like banked cinders. Using Ms. Adler as bait would not make Dracula any easier to kill.*
"I am traveling for my health," *he said in clipped tones.* "Things got rather hot in London; I am taking time away from the city and the... criminal elements within it."

((BTW, please PM me with any update on this plot. Sorry I was gone so long. I got back as soon as I could.))
*Hannibal suppressed his smile.*
"You make such charming acquaintances in all the cities you inhabit then? Or do these 'elements' find other reasons to be at odds with you?"
*He shifted his gaze slightly.*
"I can't imagine why. You come across so...civil."

*Holmes smiled mirthlessly.*
"I am somewhat infamous as the scourge of the underworld. If I make enemies, it is because I am good at my job. Much like you, I should imagine."
