You wouldn't hurt me now. Not in a public place. You wouldn't dare.
*It was ridiculous for either of them to pretend they had never met, but as long as Irene could engage him in conversation, the more time she had where he would not attack.*
"Are you very interested in music?" *She couldn't help her voice being a bit shaky.*

*Marc Warren Dracula smiled warmly.*
"Ah yes, Very much, indeed. Music expresses feeling and thought, without language; it was below and before speech, and it is above and beyond all words."
*His voice was warm and friendly, and his face shone of love for the noble art.*

*'Why are you following me?', she wanted to ask. 'Why me?'*
"Are you at all familiar with Destler's work?"

*Marc Warren Dracula took a look at the notes near her. He shook his head at the melody it was playing. It was obviously not to his taste.*
"Forgive me, Mademoiselle. These notes are only cluttering upon a peace of paper. There is no sense in the melodies here, no rhythm. In my opinion this music must have been written by a madman."
*He smiled warmly.*
"My own taste goes more in the classic direction. Brahms, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Händel...."

*Irene looked at his eyes, and immediatley wished she hadn't.*
"Is there something you were looking for?"

*Marc smiled warmly and looked around in the shelves.*
"Actually, I came here to find Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The famous masterpiece his rival Salieri pressed him to write before he died. A fantastic piece. You can actually hear the pressure Mozart was working under. His conditions must have been unbearable."

*Irene nodded. As an Opera singer, she'd always been fond of Mozart.*
"I'm sure you could find it easily...unless you're looking for the original?"

*Marc smiled and nodded.*
"It is the original I am looking for. You see, mademoiselle, I am a collector. And money is no problem. I come from a wealthy family."
*His clothes looked noble indeed. And the gold watch hanging from his waist pocket looked genuine. The way he moved was the way of an aristocrat, safe and secure.*

*How soon would the library close? He wasn't going to leave before she did...*
"I should be going..."

*Marc gave a reassuring smile.*
"If it is the closing times you are thinking of, mademoiselle, this library doesn't close before 8 o'clock in the evening."

"I know, but I really have to leave. You can stay here, don't mind me."
*She'd have to find a populated area to walk home in.*

*Marc Warren Dracula disappeared behind a shelf and was gone. He transformed into a bat, who waited for her at the outside of the library. Not because he wanted to harm her, but because he wanted to see where she lived.*

*Irene walked back to the hotel on brightly-lit streets, letting herself in to the room after making sure there was no one following her.
No one human, anyway.*

*Marc followed after Irene, disguised as a bat. She thought wrong if she thought she had outsmarted him. He grinned broadly. The streets were brightly-lit, yes. But the air above them was dark, and nobody noticed the little bat flying silently after the beautiful, single woman who hurried throught the streets of London.*

*She locked the door behind her, then took out the notes she'd copied from the library*
