*Faye floated into the auditorium, looking for Richard.*
"I know he was here before..."
*She wrinkled her nose before calling out quietly.*
"...Richard? Your majesty? Sir?"

Richard glanced up and waved her over.

((So am I to understand that Faye is developing something of a crush on His Majesty?))

*Faye would have stumbled over the seats had she been not quite so disembodied as she whizzed over to where he sat.*
"Richard! Is there any way I could purchase some of that...uh...stuff...from you?"

((Oh. I guess not.))
"Oh, now you're interested?" he asked lightly, crossing his arms but smiling.

((I considered going that route--but he's married.))
*Faye's cheeks turned pink.*
"Well, I, uh...well...yes." *she said lamely.*

((That never stopped anyone else around here, but it probably would have alarmed the hell out of Richard.))
"Well, you know, dear, you don't have to buy it from me. I already offered it, did I not?"

((In any case, her current wee crush is living, so there's no telling how it's going to work out.))
"That's true...but just the same--it's yours and you must go to some trouble to get more," *she dug around in her pocket for the coins she knew she'd left in there.* "How much do you want for it?"

((Who is it? Inquiring minds want to know.))
Richard actually sort of smirked, his thin mouth pulled up on one side and one eyebrow raised.
"Relax. I'm... well, I'm rather important in the underworld. I can get as much as I need. It isn't any trouble at all."

((Aimery in the dark and stormy night thread at Faye's inn. He wandered into her domain and against all "science" and logic, she can hear his thoughts and when she has strong emotions it makes her more solid, but then her power winds down and she disappears again because she's still a newb ghost or something.))
*Faye looked uncertain.*
"...Are you sure?"

The smirk broke out into an actual laugh.
"Yes, I'm sure!"
He reached into his pocket and managed to clamber to his feet. As he did so, he produced one of the small vials of elixir and pressed it into her hand.
"Now, does this person of yours know you exist?"

*Faye tried to look nonchalant.*
"...what person?"

"I'm only guessing, mind you, but judging by the way you dashed in here, I'd say that there is someone you'd like to meet, considering that you don't seem to carry the same load of responsibility I do in being solid."
He said it very matter-of-factly, all traces of his previous wry amusement gone.

*Faye bit her lip at being caught out.*
"Well...alright. I mean--I've already met him, but...it's difficult to talk to him when I'm...like this."
*She squinted at the bottle.*
"How does it work?"

"Simple, really. You drink it... you're safe for 48 hours." He quickly added, "And it was given willingly. Not just by me, but by the mediums who... er... donated.
There's a system we have in Asphodel, where a human- I mean living human- visitor can give a bit of... well, it's blood. Treated blood."
He sighed.
"The Greeks did this to speak to dead prophets, as you might remember if you've ever read the Odyssey. Well, some time ago, someone actually figured out that it works to solidify the dead. It sounds barbaric, but..."
His voice trailed off as he realized that there are some things that are extremely difficult to rationalize.
