Adrien relented and rested against him a moment, contemplatively. He hadn't meant to be aggressive. It was hard thinking of Marchetti at a time like this. Why, on this very couch... no. Stop thinking about it.
The water boiled. He very nearly jumped out of his skin, as though startled by it, or afraid, unnecessarily tense.
Divine, who had been admiring her finished nailed, sprang up with a titter. "I'll get it!" she cried, as though preparing to throw herself upon it. Adrien moved his head slightly as though going to nod, but he was preoccupied.

"Dare I ask how you met?" Adrian said in a low voice.

Adrien lifted his eyes almost shyly. The hesitation got the tone of the story across.
"Divine's - "
Slightly clearing of the throat from Divine across the room, pouring tea.
"ummmm. Ex."

"Ah."
He pressed his lips together contemplatively.

Adrien pressed his hand - not even appearing to mind or to notice the texture of it - slightly anxiously, looking at him.

He smiled, finally genuinely.

Adrien beamed at him and this lasted until Divine cleared her throat again, with kind bemusement, and asked what they took in their tea.
Adrian Veidt was one thing, but Adrien was another, and Adrien flushed, knowing - for once immediately - that this had been asked to clear his head.

"Lemon, please. No sugar."

Divine went to get a lemon and Adrien did not answer, because she knew damn well.
He snuggled, more to hide than anything, when she turned her back.

Adrian emitted what could charitably be called a laugh and stroked Adrien's hair.

Adrien relaxed considerably and, playfully, and not at all very loudly, meowed, tilting his head just enough so that he could peer up at Adrian through his eyelashes, biting his lower lip as he smiled.

Adrian frowned, very slightly. This was so unexpected that for a moment, his face was the very picture of confusion, before he laughed again- warmly this time, and with great feeling.

Adrien settled back against him more innocently, feeling pleased with himself.
Divine brought the tea over carefully, one in each hand.
"Zat a new color?" asked Adrien as he took his, frowning at her fingernails. She nodded and went back to sit down, clearly giving them room and alone time.
Not that for someone used to the vast space in Karnak, this would feel like room, because there was generally more space between himself and Bubastis when she was in his bedroom, but whatever.

Adrian sipped his tea with his smallest finger raised.

Adrien took a sip and then tilted his head forward to kiss Adrian's throat as though he'd suddenly, schizophrenically, changed his mind about what he wanted to do.
