Adrien was in a suspiciously jaunty mood that day. It had started with the outfit - tailored white shirt with a pale blue sweatervest and a pair of baggy white trousers that were nonetheless rather fitted in rather specific places - which seemed to have been a conscious decision on his part with some ulterior motive in mind. The outfit, after all, was clearly new, and seemed almost to have been bought for a party. Or perhaps it was meant to be a positive sign, a suggestion that sometime since Karnak Adrien had lost a little of his compulsion to continue living off of as little money as possible, but that wasn't likely. Most likely it was probably unconscious. For whatever reason, Adrien had planned - and a boy like him planned rarely, and when he did, however uneven his intentions were, that he had intentions at all was very obvious - to look good that day. And look good he did, as well as he could, which was, to the degree that his appearance was conscious, pretty damn well.
After Micaela had gone home for the day, Adrien had lingered, as usual, slipping from the lobby to the elevator and then creeping into Veidt's office to lay in wait like a panther, or a lynx.
Or perhaps like a languorous, casual kid with 80s hair who is half-draped over the top of someone's desk with his head resting on his hand while the other idly turns the pages of a huge glossy anthropological magazine and occasionally pauses to tear off a bit of a large croissant half-folded up in a napkin resting beside him.

((OH MY GOD THIS THREAD TITLE MADE ME PULL JESS OVER TO THE COMPUTER TO MAKE HER READ IT))
Veidt paused in the doorway, looking amused.
"Here already?"

"Mm-hm," said the boy bent over his desk really I swear not realizing the suggestiveness of the posture combined with his pants he's just a kid honest.
He turned to look at Adrian with a smile, a piece of croissant lifted to his lips. He ate and tilted his head. "Did you know they had free food here?"

"...yes," said Adrian. "I rather established that policy."

"Oh, did you really?"
Adrian beamed at him and then became almost shy. His propped-up elbow slid a bit to the side as he turned slightly towards him, still lying half-across his desk as though this wasn't an issue.
"Well? C'mere, stranger."

He laughed lightly, as if relieved to have some little distraction, and bent to kiss Adrien's cheek.

Adrien pushed himself to sitting and straightened Adrian's tie adoringly. Conveniently he failed to notice it had been straighter before his attentions.

Adrian idly straightened it properly, without pointing out that he'd done so.

And Adrien slid his hands over Adrian's waist beneath the blazer and upwards, wrapping his arms around his back, fingertips rubbing teasingly. "Mmmm give me a kiss." He lifted his eyebrows and smiled promisingly. "I taste like coffee..."

Adrian kissed him gently and ruffled his hair.

Adrien wrapped his arms around him tightly, knees parting on the desk just so he could pull Adrian closer. When they broke apart, he nuzzled against his throat with a sigh.

"I trust you haven't come here just to linger."

"Mmm, you don't want me around?"
It was said in a nearly muffled tone of voice that might have sounded almost hurt, but which could have just as easily sounded teasing and cheery when listened to with more scrutiny.

"You know I enjoy your company. Don't be stupid."

Adrien pulled back rather abruptly at that remark. "Pfft, what an insult, I am leaving right now - " said the boy as airly as though he were serious, sliding off the desk smartly - body rubbing heavily against Veidt's in a way that couldn't be avoided but which was undoubtedly intended anyway - as though about to stalk out of the door.
He dropped himself into Veidt's chair instead, the back of one thigh resting on the armrest, knee crooked, leg hanging down. His smile was bright but, again, almost shy.
"Actually..."
