"Then that is the best we can hope for."
He tilted the boy's face toward his and planted a small, conciliatory kiss on his mouth.

Adrien smiled against Veidt's mouth, tilted his head a little and kissed him again softly, a nonverbal sign of reassurance, if that was what Veidt wanted. He wasn't sure why he would say it like that. Hadn't he admitted this was the happiest he'd ever been? What more was there to hope for?
He slipped his hands down to tug away the suit's belt, turning his head to kiss Veidt along the jawline.

"Are you and Micaela getting along?"

Adrien sucked on Veidt's earlobe a moment before speaking, voiced respectfully hushed, against his ear. "Yes." He lifted a hand absently-mindedly to push his hair back and met Veidt's eyes, his own twinkling. "Enough to feel a little bit uncomfortable with you mentioning her at times like these."
He thought he understood why he did it; they didn't talk outside of the sex, did they? When else could Veidt ask about Micaela? Nonetheless, even if Veidt could concentrate on a million different things at once, Adrien could either talk about Micaela or he could let his mind float happily into the gutter. Doing them both was slightly embarrassing.

"I plan on taking her to Karnak for the first time very soon," Veidt continued as he rolled the suit down his arms to expose them. If he thought there was anything wrong with making this sort of conversation at a moment like this, he didn't show it.

Adrien gave Veidt a look with a little bit of exasperation in it, but it was more than cancelled out by his resignation. Adrien went with what life threw him, and he had the conversations whoever he was with wanted to start.
"Uh-huh. That's really cool," he said, not even realizing there was an unintended pun in that. "I'm sure she'll like that."
It was a little awkward, leaning in to kiss Veidt's throat at a time like this, but he could handle it. A hand slipped down to caress Veidt's thigh, although perhaps a little tentatively for the change in subject.

"You will be coming, of course."
It was not a request- not "would you like to come?", or even "I would like it if you came."

Adrien froze. Something in his brain did too, for a moment, as it had a hard time processing the information, when normally he would have understood a sentence like that immediately.
"I will be - what?"
The gravity of the comment took him completely off guard. He sounded nearly scared, and his eyes were wide.

"Coming to Karnak. Were you not listening?"

Adrien could have grimaced. He couldn't tell if Veidt was not listening to him or if he was and just deciding to ignore it - being in bed was not a good context for discussing Micaela and Karnak. But that would have implied informality and he was still staggered. "But that's - in Antartica, isn't it?" His voice was still soft, but now it was from hesitancy.

"Is that a problem?"

"I don't - have an - especially Antarctic warddrobe," stammered Adrien, eyes still wide, but starting to glance away repeatedly. He'd not often been in this sort of situation with Veidt, but the time before had ended with shouting and without even consciously knowing it Adrien had started to react with something approaching panic.
The problem was his inability to wrap his mind around the concept of being in Antarctica, in Karnak. He'd done some traveling before, with Marchetti, but none of it had been out of the country or anything.

"And you think I am unable to provide?"
His smile was about four degrees away from being the rather patronizing smirk he tended to use with people he intended to put out of business.

Adrien stared at him and slid back a little, again unconsciously, as though wary of being hit. Cautiously, barely moving, he shook his head.

"There. Then there isn't a problem."
