Mozart raised his eyebrow "You've decided all ready then?"
He knew who she should be as well, but he enjoyed the banter with his colleague too much to say.

"Yes." He said, and turned to Christine.
"You, my dear, shall be our Liana."

Christine had no idea who Liana was (or whether it was actually a title) but she bowed her head in thanks anyway.
Such things I'll have to tell Elryk!

((We'll have to give you a synopsis of this opera sometime, but there's four big parts and Liana is one of them. )) "I'm not certain when rehearsals will start, my dear, as we need the rest of the cast, but you may certainly take one of the rooms reserved for the leads of the opera."

"Take the one with the bed with the red sheets, it's the most comfortable."

There was a polite cough from nearby. A somewhat plain woman with a folder (likely of music) stepped forward. It certainly seemed the other girl's audition was wrapping up. A mezzo. Good.
"Zey sett auditions vere being helt in here--"

Wolfgang hopped over to her with a smile and took her arm "I am Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and that over there is my contemporary Herr Ludwig Von Beethoven and you are right on time."

"Meine Herren," she greeted with a nod and a stricken look on her face, distinctly unsure how to respond to Mozart taking her arm (thus preventing her from curtseying). "Ana Brauer, lyric soprano, recently arrifed from Vienna. I heff brought my resume and the pieces from my repertoire I sought might be applicable."
Small-talk was not her strong suit.

"Excellent!" Beethoven said, coming over and offering to take her resume since Mozart hadn't.
"We're in need of someone with your vocal colors, my dear. Happy to see you here."

She passed it over--on it he'd find a history of Mozart roles and several gala performances, as well as a list of people she'd studied with back in Vienna.
"I em glett to hear it," she said, hoping one of them would suggest she take the stage. This was her least favorite part.
And to be honest, she had never thought she would be auditioning to originate any role, let alone one written by either of these men. Some small part of her was starstruck and desperate to sing and prove herself.

"Well my dear" Wolfgang grinned excitedly "please, go on, show us all that you have."
He all ready liked her.
He hadn't even heard her sing.
But this was Paris, crazy Paris, and he was sure she'd be amazing.

"Herr Mozart, I ditt not know vhether it vould be out of line to use a song you hett composed, so I heff chossen somesink else, but I heff sefferal arias prepared if you voult like to hear enny of sem efter." With that she took the stage and handed the music to the accompanist. Truly, her specialty was Mozart roles, and it was difficult for her to pick something else, but she supposed this would do. It was a masterful performance, both in vocal technique and acting. But beyond technical competence, she had something about her that kept one watching. In person she was brusque and plain, but on stage it was easy to imagine she was the most beautiful woman in the world. It lit her up from the inside and made her voice sparkle with something beyond mere singing.

As she finished Wolfgang broke out in to applause, squealing with excitement "Oh that was just perfect, just perfect my dear" he grinned "and I would not mind hearing something from my own work, you may accuse me of narcissism, but it would be a great honor to hear a voice like that sing something I wrote!"

Ana turned absolutely beet-red, eyes wide. "I... it voult not be eny trouble et all--you are too kind..." She hurried to the pianist and, in something of a fluster, placed the correct sheets in front of him. "Somesink more dramatic, senn. Ent in German." That much with a small smile. She had always admired Mozart for writing in their mutual native tongue. She didn't want to attempt Der Holle Rache without preparation, so she could fall back to something she was a little more familiar with, and had played on stage. There was a delicate balance between the weight of the song and the soaring levity of her voice, sweet but not cloying, clear and bright but fraught with emotion. When she finished singing it was clear that it was like she was coming out of a trance, her posture more awkward and her face more closed-off. She had loosened up from the praise, though, and was almost smiling, eager for his evaluation of her performance.
