"Don't sink for one minute I'm not telling Azraffle, Herbert," Magda snarled. "As if your utter selfishness- your hlack of concern for anyvun but yourself-"
She stopped, too righteously angry for words.
"After all this time I spent trying to tell Croilly at least Azraffle vas in good hands, you- you-"

"Strong words coming from a woman who lost her maidenhead to a married man," Herbert said dryly. "And if you would listen for a moment- nothing was going on."

"Go and destroy even more than he already has?" Alfred prompted.
Well, Magda seemed to have the shouting bit covered for now... Alfred focused on getting up off the floor before drunkenly making his way back over to the chaise. He grabbed a flask and took a long drink, obviously in physical pain because of the alcohol hitting the still open wound on his tongue but with no intention of stopping until the flask was empty.
"Magda... for what it's worth... I'm sorry," he slurred, referring to his failure to save her and subsequent abandonment of her body.

"You're going to stand sere and tell me that after all I know about you, hyou veren't trying to seduce him!?"
She whirled around to face Alfred.
"If sat's se case, vhat are you sorry for?"

"Not killing that over there when I had the chance, mostly..." Alfred took another swig, indicating Herbert with a nod of his head.
"And I didn't manage to save you... neither of us deserved... this. And it's all their fault, pretty much... but I'm still sorry. If I could have persuaded madame Chagal to let me stake her husband... or if we'd sneaked down sooner..." He shook his head sadly, making the room swim again.
Talking about this wasn't doing him any good at all. The visions that haunted him every moment were getting stronger again....
Alfred grabbed another bottle, downing its contents without a single pause.

Magda stared at Alfred, not fully understanding him.
"What are you-"
And then she realized it, and the shock hit her so hard she took a step backward.

"So yeah... sorry for being such a failure, I guess," Alfred fnished, tossing aside the now empty bottle.
Yeah... that summed it up nicely.
He dropped back onto the chaise, balance was getting too tricky.

"I'd have told you sooner had he" With this he aimed a drunken glare at Herbert. "And his delightful family not opted for wrecking me."

"I had nothing to do with my father's grand romantic plan!"

"Oh yes... killing people and/or otherwise destroying them... how romantic!" Alfred sneered. "As if your 'grand romantic plan' was any better."

"No planning, just homicidal and/or rapist tendencies? Even better." Alfred rolled his eyes, nearly causing himself to fall off the chaise in the process, before grabbing another bottle.

"Ra-"
Herbert saw Magda's eyes burning at him and had to turn away from her.
"I'll admit I was impetuous-"
