"Seems like a good compromise to me." Yager nodded.
"I'm starting to believe in your wiseness once more," he added with a wink.
((mental image: Yager sitting in the count's lap with the count pointing at pictures and going "And the horsey says...?" with the rest of the castle watching in different states of 'Wtf?!', snickering and 'Awww...'))

((*Dies*))
"I'm glad to have your trust, Yager."

"I feel you deserve it." This time there was a bit more seriousness in Yager's voice.
Being a vampire hunter, he knew all too well the creatures were rarely trusted. Not truly anyway and certainly not by mortals who really knew what they were. Still, Yager felt a kind of deep trust for the other man... and somehow it felt important to have that out in the open.

He sketched a bow by way of thanks, stopping by a pedestal topped by a glass case. Inside, a very obviously old but in excellent condition book sat on a stand, open. The words were written in Spanish, and on one page was a picture of an armored man on horseback, heroically posed on top of a hillside.
"Don Quixote."

Yager stared at the book for what felt like quite some time.
Somehow the vampire hunter had a feeling that something was expected of him, yet... he couldn't for the life of him figure out what it was.
Kneeling was out of the question. The book obviously wasn't a holy relic, that much was proven by Krolock's continued presence. Still, it felt that way, a bit.
"It's beautiful... makes me wish I knew Spanish." Not that he didn't know the story by heart.

Krolock nodded.
"It is, indeed. And there is something to be said about reading an oft-translated novel in the original language."

"Unless you don't know said language. Romanian, French, English, German... that's about it for me. Though I can make out a reasonable amount of eastern European languages, I suppose... if it doesn't go too fast."
Romanian was of course Yager's first language, the other three came in rather handy while hunting.
As for eastern European languages... well, you picked up things left and right. A lot of vampires lived there before everyone mysteriously relocated to Paris.

"Well, yes. But if one can read it, I always recommend the original, if it can be found."
His gaze traveled from the book on the pedestal to the volumes on the shelf behind it.
"I have copies of Don Quixote in other languages."
He gestured at the shelf.

"So I see... can you read all of them?" the vampire hunter asked in sheer awe.
Eternity or no eternity, learning so many lanuages was pretty damn impressive no matter what.

"Well...no, not all." He said.
"I don't really speak Italian, for instance, but I like to be thorough and have it in as many tongues as possible."

"Spoken like a true collector." Yager chuckled.
"Though I have to admire that... I wouldn't have the attention span for something like this... nor the lifespan, but that's a different story."

He grinned.
"Book collecting isn't for everyone, but it gives me something to do in my spare time."

"I can imagine. Books are of all times, after all... not many things are."
Well, vampires were... could it be said that in a way, Yager collected vampires?

((Hehe...vampire collector. Like pokemon, only more likely to kill you))
"Right you are, there. What little is eternal...such should be cherished."

((*visions of Yager trying to stuff vampires into a ball* The Vampire's Ball... not as expected))
"I suppose you could always turn to rock collecting, should books begin to bore you. I'm pretty sure rocks will stick around." Yager shrugged. "Not quite as interesting as books, though."
