"Vampires, mostly," Yager replied with a shrug and a smile.
He didn't blame the creatures for it, it was just what they did.
"You'd be doing me a favor, honestly. I mean, I cannot in good conscience let you feed on anything even remotely innocent... and all other manners to prevent are the messy stuff neither of us wants to resort to."

Krolock tried not to look affronted.
"I do not feed on the innocent. I take care to make sure that I don't."
Anymore.

"If it has a heartbeat, it's innocent enough in my book."
This was a good rule, since Yager generally liked vampires better than he did humans. At least you knew where you stood with the nosferatu... humans were complicated.
"And you never know what you end up with in the end, what with all those possible side-effects... at least I remain unaffected."

Krolock could argue with that sentiment, but he wasn't really in the mood for philosophical discourse. Though he might be later.
"All right then, for now at least, I suppose I'll take your offer."

"Brilliant... let's get me some food first, it won't be any fun if I collapse halfway through." Yager really did look far too happy for someone who'd just agreed to being a vampire's dinner.
But still, the count feeding on him would mean there was no question of 'To stake or not to stake' and such... which was always a good thing when you encountered a likable vampire.

"Of course. It we should go outside of the castle, though...I'm afraid there is no one here who could serve a...regular...meal."

"Sounds good to me. It's been a while since I've had the pleasure of inhaling outside air." Yager walked out the room, stopped and looked around.
He then turned and walked back in.
"Er... yeah, it's probably better if you just show the way to the exit." The vampire hunter laughed softly.

Krolock chuckled as he stepped out of the door.
"Yes, the castle is rather a maze to anyone not used to it. It's no wonder that what few visitors we get, they get lost."
He led the way as he spoke, their footsteps echoing along the hall.

"Well, I suppose it's in the way these things were built... some sort of last line of defense. Once the enemy would be inside all that was left to do would be confusing the living Hell out of them while making an escape." At least, that was what made sense to Yager... but a lot of things made perfect sense to him.
The hunter fell silent for a few seconds. "You keep saying 'we'... I mean, I don't mean to intrude or anything..."

"Ha! Yes, it does seem extremely empty, but there are others living--or should I say, unliving--here. My own beloved is somewhere in these halls, and I have a friend and a distant cousin here as well as Igor..."
Okay, so it wasn't exactly a full castle complement, but the castle hadn't had something like that since even when he was human--the old region had been too peaceful to need such a battlement.

Yager looked around, not seeing so much as footprint in the dust.
"Are you sure they didn't get lost as well?" The question was half-serious. This place really did appear to be able to swallow a good handful of people.
"'Cause if they're vampires, I can probably find them... it's sorta what I do. What I'm good at..." The only thing he was good at if you asked his father. Though the man probably hadn't meant it that way, Yager was sure. He had just liked pointing out Yager's strong side in his own peculiar manner.

"Oh, they're not lost, it's simply a big place. My dear Belle would more likely than be found in the library, and Cal I put in charge of keeping an eye on the grounds..."

"Sounds reasonable," Yager replied with a nod.
Most vampires seemed to have libraries... it probably had something to do with them needing a way to pass eternity. Yager only owned a single actual book: Don Quixote.
It was by far his favorite story ever, though he still couldn't see why someone had once compaired him to the man. He was grateful for it, though. Otherwise he might have never discovered the book.
"So... where do you want to go?"

((Hahaha...I once almost made Don Quixote))
"Why, I thought I'd leave that up to you. There are plenty of excellent places here in Paris."
They'd by now reached the foyer of the castle, the ceiling here so high that it was rather lost in the all the darkness. Through the front windows could be seen the glittering lights of the city.

((Yeah, me too... but then I realized I had Yager... I'd make him if there was someone to play Aldonza/Dulcinea, but meh)) "Oh, I'm fine as long as there's food... can't say I've been to many places. David showed me the Moulin Rouge, but I didn't like it much." Yager thought back to that moment and shook his head. "He had this whole speech about artists and inspiration, but all I could see were flying high heels. Can't even imagine why a vampire would go there. I mean, you might get surprise-staked! How's that going to look when you finally get an obituary? 'Struck fear in the hearts of peasants and noblemen alike for centuries, final death due to ladies footwear'." As he said the last bit, Yager moved his hand through the air as if tracing an imaginary giant headline. "And there was the Opera... but that's not an option since there's no food there. I think... Mortimer would probably say there was, but I can't help but be under the distinct impression that Mortimer thinks everything is food." Yager chuckled, it wasn't a negative comment, more of an amused observation. "So I guess we should just go to the first place we find."
