He nodded.
"Thorne. That's the one. There's other names, too, but...they're all vague. Like I don't quite remember them yet."
He shook his head.
"I remember pirates, but then--I can't say when I ever was around any of them."

“But that’s…” *Brandi’s confusion solidified, leaving a crease in her brow.* “But I don’t understand how that’s even possible. She doesn’t…”
exist.
*Glancing to Cry-Baby out of the corner of her eye, she tried to find a way to deal with the unsettling thought delicately.*
“So…you remember her, but…you haven’t seen her here though. Not in Paris.”
*This could get weird really fast if characters were bringing themselves in.*

((Poor sueBrandi. Her life is just a long string of weird))
"No, I haven't met her here...I think she's from the past. Er, yours...mine...somehow."
There was the implication, thanks to Heike, that Brandi was the pirate--but that was crazy.
Right?

((Yeah…but not really that much weirder than any sueauthor. Just different. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) So thank you for helping.)) *The crease in Brandi’s brow deepened. Ok, even accepting certain things…she sure as hell didn’t remember any Hugh Jackman look-alikes, in Jeanne’s backstory or her own past. Well, ones that broke the third dimension anyways.* “That just doesn’t sound…it doesn’t seem possible. I mean, I know her story. And I just don’t remember you being in it. So…” *She vibrated in frustration.* “I just don’t know!” *She rubbed her temples, trying to make heads or tails of this and what it might mean with Dracula and her and the angel and Cry-Baby. Life on the verse was just plain complicated.*

"I'm sorry, Brandi. I wish he hadn't decided to involve you, it doesn't have to." He said softly.
"I don't know what Dracula's after exactly, but he seems determined to get it."
And on top of it all, he was dragging into the one person that mattered most to him.

*It was only in that moment that Brandi realized that Cry-Baby was being really quiet. She knew that this situation would no doubt dredge up stuff that he probably didn’t want to deal with. Even with all they’d been through, he never seemed completely ok with what she was. Not that she’d taken a lot of effort to explain it in its basest components. It wasn’t important. Not really.
Shutting her eyes briefly, she gestured to cut the angel off.*
“Just…” *She turned to Cry-Baby with a gentle smile (at least as much of one as she could muster).* “Why don’t ‘ya check on the kids. I’m gonna make some hot chocolate.” *Her voice was comforting, as she hoped the act itself would be. That would be better. At least that would be something she could control. Then Brandi glanced at Raziel.*
“Once I’ve had a breath, we’ll get this sorted.”
*Neither statement was so much a suggestion as a statement and she nodded, stepping towards the kitchen.*

"Of course. It's a lot to take in and think about, I'll give you time."
And, he'd need to consider things, as well. The situation seemed to be getting more out of control and there had to be a way to stop it from getting too far away from them.
He sat down in one of the available chairs in the common room, suddenly feeling a bit weary.

*Brandi's idea sounded smart enough to him. That damnable angel with going and making everything all more complicated than it already was. Which was pretty damn complicated. He kinda felt like punching him, just for good measure. But Brandi'd probably disapprove, so Cry-Baby resigned himself upstairs to see what new destruction the kids were raining down.*

*Brandi watched the cocoa swirl in the cup, the heat blending the ingredients easily. That first sip did her a world of good. It never ceased to amazing her how much chocolate and sugar could help in stressful things.
She peeked back out in the common room. Raziel sat alone. Perhaps it would be easier to sort things out privately. Brandi hated that thought; that she felt the urge to hide things from Cry-Baby. He'd proven time and again that he'd stand by her. So why was she so afraid to let him into that last piece of who she was?
It ate at her, but she suffered it silently as she walked back into the other room and sat across from the angel. Back to work. They had to figure this out, and probably fast.*
"Ok. Sorry. So...we share a past life? One that I've never technically lived?" *It sounded surprisingly reasonable for as ridiculous as the notion was.*

He briefly smiled when she returned, then was back to all seriousness as the conversation resumed.
"That's it exactly. As much as I find it hard to believe, part of me is saying that I have it right."

"Ok." *Brandi answered plainly, forcing herself to accept it and move on.*
"Do you think this is why Dracula is so interested? Because of the pirate timeline?" *Her brow read in concern, but it was a cool and she appeared ready to problem solve. But then something occurred to her and her brow arched in curiosity.*
"Wait...if I was a pirate...what were you?" *It had never really occurred to her that for all she knew, he might have killed her. Well, killed Jeanne.*

"I'm not sure if it's the pirate part specifically, or just the time period or what. That man was a bit vague."
At her following question, he furrowed his brow, trying to sort out the impressions he'd gotten of the past.
"I'm...not sure. I know I worked on a ship and sailed the seas..."
Was he a pirate? Someone that hunted them?
That last was unpalatable, as it brought some uncomfortable implications forth...
He was a Norrington!

((Seriously? Because that'd be frickin' hot. That coat...nom.))
*Brandi's eyes were fixed on him as he explained. Well, didn't so much explain as was very vague. She wondered if he really didn't remember the details (which still put him up on her who had no recollection) or if he was trying to spare her something she rather not dwell on.*
"K..." *She answered at length, feeling like they wouldn't be getting anywhere soon at this rate. Hey hand found her mouth, fingers touching her lips softly as she drifted in thought, trying to figure out where to go from here.*
"If that's all ya've got, I think we might have to try something else." *She admitted, though not condescendingly. She would give him the benefit of a doubt. He'd earned that much, after all.*
"Maybe...hmm..." *Her brow creased, her mind trying to follow several courses to conclusion.*
"Is that the only place you have previous memories of me?"

((Hee! I figure, why not? Like he's always been forced to have distance between him and her))
He wished he had more to tell, or that there was more than the mere hunch. All of it sounded like he hadn't done much investigating, but it was more that the sources of information available tended to talk like the Oracle of Delphi and...wait, how the hell would know that about the Oracle?
Shoving back that thought, he focused on Brandi's words.
"It's all I have for now, though...I do remember other things, other places...other times I've met you. We were in Romania once, for something...I met you there."

((Awesomesauce.))
*Brandi's lips tightened. There were a few from there.*
"Romania? I don't suppose that she was--I was--named Anya. A particularly nasty sort of vampire with a...unique family structure?" *She asked sheepishly. Man, who would he have been in that particular scenario. She shuddered at the options.*
