His eyebrows went up at the mention of Anya.
"Well...I think I'd heard of her but never actually interacted with her...there was another one in Romania--Anna?"
((Hope you don't mind the Van Helsing connection XD))

((Of course not. A more tangled web is definitely better. And besides, now there's a balance in that he has some memories of her, but at least she's seen several of his movies. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) )) *Brandi scrunched her nose. That was so not a name she'd have picked. Not for a Romanian especially.* "Uh, not that I know of. I mean, not that I had, you know?" *But then something struck her. Nah, that was too weird. But then again, it didn't hurt to ask.* "You don't mean...Anna Valerious, do you?"

And just like that, he had a flood of memories from that movie time.
"Yes! You were one of the last of your family and...that bastard Dracula was after you back then."
He blinked. Now he knew the connection, or how it was Drac knew him.
"That's how he knows me--I...was Van Helsing back then."

"No." *Brandi quickly assured him with emphatic head shaking.* "I mean yes, that's how you probably know each other, but...I'm no Kate Beckinsale."
*Even given the massive weirdness here, she just wasn't ready to make that jump just yet. She wasn't nearly as hot as Kate, though at least she could maneuver more naturally in heels and fancied her Romanian accent a bit more respectable.*
"I mean, she's someone else. Other than being brunette, we don't have much in common."
And none of my characters are in movies. Well, other than the ones I brought onto the verse. But they were in movies first, not after. *Her head was starting to hurt at the twisting timelines.*

"Kate Beckinsale?" He asked confusedly, then decided not to puruse that line of thought. Things were already convoluted enough.
"I only know what I recall, and..." He paused, the memories becoming clearer the more he spoke of them.
"...something always seems to get in the way." He muttered, the memory of Anna's death resurfacing just then.
"I mean...it always seems there's...a divide, between the two of us."

*Something in Brandi's stomach tightened, but she wasn't ready to address that yet. She wanted to say she was sorry, to comfort him in some way, but how could she do that without seeming...trivial? Her thoughts instead were directed back upstairs to Cry-Baby. Biting her lip for a moment, she pushed herself back from the table.*
"You know, I should probably check on the kids. They can be a real handful one on one, you know." *A smile threatened in the corners of her mouth, her lashes veiling her eyes from having to meet his.*
"Be back down in 2 shakes of a lamb's tail and we can make some sort of plan to prepare for Drac. K?"
*She stood, smile blossoming supportively at the angel.*

The shift of subject caught him off guard for a moment, but then he nodded understandingly, giving her a sort of lopsided grin in return. "Oh, yeah, sure. I wouldn't want to mess up your obligations." Realizing how he'd worded that, he quickly added: "To your kids. "

*Brandi ascended the stair easily, disappearing down the hall. Things were quiet (though that could have been credited to the sound-proofing on their room). But there was no footsteps, no creak of floorboards that might allude to her eminent return. Just silence, which was eerie in it's own right for a crowded place like that. Minutes stretched on further than they should have. Time had melted away for Brandi, having drifted as soon as she opened the door to find the room empty. Only a note remained and now she sat where her knees had given way, puddled on the floor, note crumbled tightly in her hand.*
