(( Oh, well then, that is comforting. I am not crazy then. ))
Tsuzuki's lips formed the name 'Mohinder' as though practicing- harsher consonants than Noah's name, harder to pronounce. "He must be very happy to have you here," he said simply, turning the thought of doctors and patients uncertainly over in his mind. Something about the term 'patient zero' unnerved him. It was dehumanizing, and very scientific. "Geneticist...that means he studies evolution, mutations, DNA?"

Happy? Yeah, he's so ecstatic he beat the crap out of me while I was unconscious and then ran away. "A friendly face is always welcome, especially to one so far away from home. He's from India originally; he moved to America for his research a couple of years ago, and now here." He leaned forward to whisper confidingly, "He hasn't learned yet that running away doesn't solve anything. Your problems always follow you."
He leaned back. "Yes, that's right," he answered. "He used to be a teacher, but he's moved on to research now."

Tsuzuki regarded Sylar with some surprise, eyes locked on the other's face as Sylar leaned forward to whisper. "It doesn't?" he asked, his face perfectly blank, before his expression broke and he laughed, to show he'd only been joking. "If he's running from something, he's gone a long ways...What did he- " Tsuzuki broke off mid-word. The color drained from his face as he stared off into the air somewhere over Syar's shoulder, his gaze unfocused and unseeing. His hands were clenched white on the edge of the table; he looked as grim and shocked as if he were dying.

Sylar's expression was the very picture of friendly concern. "Tsuzuki? Are you alright? What's wrong?" He reached out to pat Tsuzuki's arm comfortingly, but wavered at the last second. Inwardly, he cursed. This was the problem with veiled references; there was always the chance someone would figure them out.
He hoped that wasn't the case this time. Crossing his fingers surreptitiously, Sylar glanced over his shoulder to see what, if anything, had caught Tsuzuki's eye.

Slowly, so slowly, Tsuzuki's gaze transferred to Sylar's face. "I have a stomach ache," he whispered, looking absolutely astonished, before letting his head thud down on the table.
A minute later, he called over the waiter for a glass of water.

((*agrees with Pippa 100%* That is new, isn't it? I'm not that oblivious?))
And that's... unexpected? Huh. Good to know. On the other hand, it means there could be something very wrong here. Those wouldn't have been poisoned, would they? He looks suspiciously at his own barely-touched caked, and pushes it aside.
When the waiter returns, he takes the water and holds it up to Tsuzuki's lips; he's shaking badly, though it seems to be more out of fear than a symptom, and Sylar doubts his ability to hold the glass himself.

(( Yayyy I'm glad ya'll like it! No, it's new, you're not oblivious. ^_^ ))
Tsuzuki looked at Sylar mournfully; that he'd gotten a stomach ache from all those sweets was even greater a betrayal than when he'd discovered the free food at Lady Zilia's food was glamored. He sighed and took the glass from him, sipping on it himself and looking very betrayed.
Something occurred to him as he drank; he rested the rim of the cup against his mouth and glanced up at Sylar. His other hand, the one not holding the glass, was out of sight, pressed against his poor stomach. "Mohinder, is he the friend you were with at the hospital? Before you got the concussion?"

It occurred to Sylar, far too late, that it would be a little odd for someone to leave an injured friend unconscious on the floor without at least making sure medical attention was on the way. Well, he could talk his way out of that if it came up.
"Yeah. Well, I don't have any other friends here." Or, well, any friends anywhere. Boo frickin' hoo. "Look, maybe you shouldn't be trying to talk right now. You look really ill." Three chairs flew to line up next to Tzuzuki's. "Lie down. It won't be very comfortable, but it might help." Sylar took off his coat and laid it on the chair to provide some cushioning.

"He's not a very good friend if he left you there," Tsuzuki said, but he didn't seem to be thinking as much on it as Sylar might have feared; he was too distracted by the other chairs sliding in next to his. "No no no no no," he protested, eying them and looking a little uneasy at the attention and possibly also the flying chairs. "I'm fine! I shouldn't have complained." He was regretting mentioning it now, but he hadn't expected Noah to take him seriously. Tatsumi or Hisoka would have just told him to get over it. Tsuzuki squirmed in his seat, trying to remember not to whine in front of Noah again.
But- owwie. Tsuzuki drank more water.

Is that... is that righteous indignation on my behalf? Ooh, what fun. "We were in a hospital," he defended. "Anyway, I'm sure he wouldn't have left unless it were important."
"Are you sure you're OK?" After a brief hesitation, he rubbed Tsuzuki's shoulder comfortingly.

"I'm fine!" Tsuzuki flapped his hands for Sylar to go on, to not worry about him. "Eheheh. Um. It's almost gone." He thought, but did not say, that just being in a hospital wasn't enough reason to leave a friend, but maybe Mohinder did have something really important to do. Besides which, Tsuzuki didn't know him, and while he was used to giving easy affection to his friends of course not everyone might be that way. He wasn't used to recieving it back quite so openly, especially not from near-strangers, which was why he was so uneasy with Sylar's concern.

"Well, OK then..." with some reluctance, Sylar put his coat back on and sat back down.

"You are very nice after all- I wasn't sure." Tsuzuki laughed again, a very pleasant, open laugh, like he was scolding himself for being so ridiculous.

"Um. Thanks? I think? Was that a compliment or an insult?" Despite his words, he didn't seem offended so much as bemused (and amused).
