*The weather had be rather fowl and there wasn't much to do except think. With one hand on the mantle, Chuck stood in front of the fireplace, staring at his father's will. He hadn't been able to part with it. The words were all to familiar after reading it countless times; he had touched the notary until it was almost worn away.*

*Adrienne entered after having heard from Rose that he was in here. She frowned a little when she saw what he was reading, moving over to stand next to him and lean her face against his upper arm.*
"You know you'll go crazy if you keep reading it."

"Yeah," *was all he said before folding it in thirds along the creases. He looked at the thing again before placing it closer to the fire.*

*She placed her hand on his, holding it back and looking it up at him.*
"You may not want to do that."

*He paused and looked at her hand before turning to look at her.*
"Why not? I think it's about time to forget all of this. I've had enough time to mull this over."

"It's never a good idea to burn legal documents. They come in handy later."
*That, and she just had a bad feeling about burning the will.*
"There are more constructive ways to use your anger."

"Like what? Punching a hole in the wall would be expensive and I'm not exactly into charity work."

*She rolled her eyes.*
"I mean like buying out the company, bête."

*He let out a frustrated sigh.*
"My trust fund might be plushy but not plushy enough to buy out a corporation worth billions. Plus, Jack hasn't been returning any of my phone calls. Like hell he'd want to sell his company to a teenager."

"So you build a company here, in Europe, wait until you're powerful enough, by which time your uncle, from all I can gather, will have nearly run your father's company into the ground, and buy them out. You'll return like the prodigal son." *She suggested simply, moving away to go sit on one of the armchairs.*

"Building a company isn't like opening a bakery: there are risks. Big risks."
*He stood and leaned on the mantel.*
"If Bart might've been an ass but he knew me better than anyone. If he didn't think I could do it, then I can't."

"And if he thought you weren't capable he probably wished you were. Prove him and everyone else wrong... because I know that you are."

*He gazed at the paper as he quietly considered her words. He wouldn't start with nothing like his old man but if things went his way, it would be just as impressive.*
"It'll be real estate. Just like my father," *he said, making up his mind.*

*She nodded, smiling just a tad outside but beaming within. It was a step. All he really needed was someone to believe in him.* "It won't take long, you know. Given my sources from future generations, and Alexei, France is on the verge of an industrial revolution.... fortunes are going to be made by those who pick up on it."

*He might not have paid a lot of attention in his history classes but he had enough to know that what she had said was true.*
"I'm going to... meet with a few people when we get back to the city. And I want you to be there," *he said with a small grin.*
