"Pricing? For what?" He asked, before remembering that this was a tea SHOP. "Oh yes, that. Perhaps a franc per cup of tea, and five francs for a whole pot. A bit more for a party... What do you think?"

"Well, I suppose that seems reasonable," concurred the Hare, nodding with the strong self-assurance of someone with no idea what he's talking about.

"How does one keep their thoughts straight with all this buying and selling business?" the Hatter remarked, buttering up a piece of bread and pouring himself one of the other pots of tea.
Earl Gray--not his favorite, but quite nice.

Heather put her cup down carefully before turning to Alberta with a grave expression. "Did you notice? On the way here, I mean... There weren't any cars, or satellite dishes. The street lamps were gas lights. The clothes people were wearing, the state of the streets..." she wrapped her arms around herself. "I'm beginning to think there might not be a way back."

Alberta twisted her fingers around the handle of her teacup.
"Yeah, I noticed," she admitted. She'd sort of been hoping it was just her imagination. "But, um, Europe's just supposed to be more old-fashioned and..." She trailed off.
"Look, I flew here," she promised. "I'm staying in a modern hotel suite. Unless there was one of those Doctor Who wormhole things on the way to the Opera House, it can't be how it looks."

"You mean the architecture here's confined to one time?" The Hatter interjected. "How backwards!"

Ignoring the Hatter and the second half of Alberta's speech, Heather narrowed her eyes, raised her chin and lifted one eyebrow pointedly. She hoped the expression was sufficient to inform the older woman exactly how unimpressed Heather was by the implication - however accidental - that anywhere that wasn't America (or Canada, whatever) was centuries behind.

"Back in Wonderland, you know," the Hatter continued to the teacups, "Time tends to do what he pleases with the decor. Isn't that right, Hare?"
