*GEORGIANA*
"You've spoken to him, then?" Georgiana said, clasping her hands together in front of her. "I'm so glad; I worry he will get lonely, with so few English gentlemen about. Not that there is anything lacking in his present company, of course. But it is nice to hear a familiar-sounding voice."

"I regret that I have not yet had the pleasure of making his formal acquaintance," *said Willoughby with a shake of his head.* "The opportunity for proper introduction has never presented itself."

"Oh, but I can introduce you," Georgiana smiled hesitantly, as if unsure this was really being requested. "There is nothing easier, I assure you."

"I would be honoured, Miss Darcy," said Willoughby with a quick smile.

Georgiana smiled, quickly and shyly at the same time, a little bit flustered but attempting to hide it. She did really want to be cool and collected and worldly, but at the same time Anne Shirley was so entirely herself at all times and Georgiana could not help admiring that, too.
"I think he's up by the house," she said, having seen him with Anne not long before. She led the way up to the hotel, glancing back once or twice, and found Darcy contemplating his tea in a manner which suggested he had forgotten what it was for.
"Fitzwilliam," she said eagerly. "Allow me to present Mr. Willoughby, one of our guests. He's not had the pleasure of meeting you, but he's visiting here from England as well."
Darcy rose and bowed as befitted the situation.
"Welcome, Mr. Willoughby. I apologize for not greeting you personally earlier. The duties of the hotel, I'm afraid, require me to be everywhere at once; a skill I have not yet mastered."

The men bowed to each other cordially.
"A skill which will come with time, I am certain," said Willoughby with some humour. "I myself am in two places, right now. While I stand before you, my aunt firmly believes me to be held captive in her Yorkshire estate."

Darcy did not smile, but then, he seldom did. He understood the burden of familial duty, but then, he also believed in following it, however unpleasant. To a certain extent, of course--he knew, in his heart, he was not going to marry his cousin Anne, but that did not mitigate the importance of giving Lady Catherine her due, as acrimonious as he found her company.
"I congratulate you sir, on your narrow escape, then," he said pleasantly. "I can think of few finer destinations."

"Indeed, and with such an establishment as this, I can see you will have no shortage of guests in the seasons to come."

Darcy inclined his head.
"I meant, of course, Prince Edward Island," he said. "But thank you."
There was something about him, something a shade too pleasing. It was a subtle thing--Bingly, of course, had pleasant manners, and Darcy did when he tried or was comfortable enough not to have to--but Willoughby reminded him just a shade too much of Wickham. Still, he was merely a customer. There was no need to distress himself.

"The island is a lovely spot. So unspoilt," said Willoughby with heart agreement. "You and your sister must find it refreshing to live in so lovely a spot."

"Refreshing," Darcy said after a very slight pause. "Yes. It is, that, though I find I miss home, as well. Still, it is a consolation that if I cannot be there, my surroundings are very nearly as pleasant."

"And the society as well, though somewhat provincial, is rather agreeable just the same."

Though the manner was agreeable enough, Darcy found himself slightly defensive--despite the fact that his attitude had been, and still largely was, much the same.
"I find the society quite as agreeable as any I have met, at home or abroad."

"Have you traveled extensively, Mr. Darcy?"

"Not as much as some," Darcy said. "But I did my Grand Tour, and some besides."
