"You know I never actually thought about it," said Sebastian, "but sometimes it is. Do you go out for picnics often?"

He shook his head. "My sister is terribly allergic to grass." As a result, they had spent pretty much all of their mealtimes indoors.

"Oh, that is so distressing. Sisters can put a damper on things. Mine is not allergic but there are times when she thinks she is. It's something that happens to them when they start being women. But I am quite sorry. I think you should try to gather some people and go on a picnic, it's quite fun."

"I wouldn't know who to bring," he admitted. "And I'm only in Paris for a few months before I go to University. I don't know very many people, you see. At least not well enough to ask them to go on a picnic." He turned a little pink again.

"Oh, I'm sorry. You'll meet some at University - where are you going?"

"Oxford." His father had met Uncle Liam there, and they were very great friends now, so perhaps... whoever he was talking to was right.

"Oh!" said Sebastian, becoming a bit excited. "I go to Christ Church. I'll be returning for a second year - I'm sure you'll see a lot of me. Most people do I think. I'll have to motor you away. There are a lot of places there for picnics. That and of course I have a lot of indoor luncheons. We'll do something."

That was terribly encouraging, to know someone next year. He'd been rather worried he'd get there and nobody would want to talk to him, even though that was preposterous and what he'd really have to worry about was too many people wanting to talk to him. Except he still had no idea who he was.
"I'd like that very much... but what did you say your name was?" He knew that he hadn't actually said his name, but he was trying to be polite.

"I completely forgot I was in France and at a party where no one would know me," said Sebastian, with a sort of laugh as he caught himself in this. "I'm Sebastian Flyte. I wonder if you know of my family."

"Oh! Yes, actually. Well, I don't know your family personally, but I know that you're Catholic. Not that that's bad! We're Catholic, and there aren't that many big families who are." Big as in important, not necessarily as in large.

"Oh!" said Sebastian perking up. "We are a rare breed and we're dying out fast, aren't we? At least in England. Is it easier in France?"

"It's really rather more odd not to be Catholic here. We visit our cousins in England, and everyone looks at you funny when they find out."

"I haven't spent enough time there to know," he said, shrugging. He took a sip of what lemonade was left. "People here don't seem to care much what you do. Nora says it's because they're more interested in themselves than other people. Nora's my sister--not the allergic one, the other one."

"You have two sisters? So do I. We should start a support group. It'd include picnics."
