*Lois let her tears fall, hoping that he wouldn't be able to tell.*
"Do you think I'm crazy?"
*She sounded pathetic, like she absolutely needed to hear an answer from him.*
*Maybe he wouldn't be able to see the tears but her strained voice gave it all away.*

"No." Came the emphatic response.
"We all have demons."

*Lois lifted her head and looked up at him, but only for a second. She found it easier to not make eye contact.*
"What are your's?" *she asked in a whisper.*

There was only a moment of hesitation. Only a moment.
"My parents."
When was the last time he'd voluntarily brought that up?

*Lois closed her eyes tightly. Of course, she knew. Who didn't?*

He leaned against Lois, though to give her comfort to comfort himself it was hard to tell.
"Sometimes. A nightmare of that night...it all plays out, like a film..."

He nodded
"You try to change things, to interfere, but it happens anyway."

*Lois stayed silent for a long while.*
"In my dream..." *she started slowly,* "The Joker found me here and--"
*She broke off, unable to finish.*
"What if I try to change thing, to interfere, but it happens anyway? In real life?"

He gave her a gentle squeeze.
"The Joker...that isn't decided yet. You could still change things."

*Lois let out a forlorn sigh.*
"What makes you think I'm capable of that?"
*He question was genuine, not self-deprecating. She desperately wanted-- need, even-- to know, to hear him speak... to be reminded that someone was there for her.*

"That's how these things win--by making you feel helpless, or weak. Don't let it push you around. You're better, far better."

*Lois exhaled deeply as she felt herself suddenly grow tired. She relaxed and closed her eyes. Then again... she wasn't completely sure it was because she was tired. With Bruce, she found a peace that she hadn't felt for a long time. And with peace came rest.*
"It seems like you have me all figured out," *she said, sleepiness and a hint of her usual humour colouring her voice.*
