Sorelli glanced back at the hold, then to Johanna and Raoul.
"Some of them...might not make it...but most can escape..."

At that moment, a trio came stumbling out, two holding up one who was too ill to walk straight.
"Wait...don't leave us behind..."

*He looked vaguely overwhelmed for a second before relenting.*
"Are there any more?" *He asked, moving to the girls and scooping the sick one up in his arms with ease. They'd get nowhere with her slung between the other two.*

"Some were already taken ashore," Sorelli said quietly. "And...some didn't survive the crossing." Her eyes hardened .

"Do you have another pistol? We'll take them, and I'll help if we're seen."
It would be more like when they were seen- it wasn't as if a shipload of slavegirls could walk out without anyone noticing.

"In my back..."
*But then, one of the guards, who had woken up, cried out, and didn't look very pleased. He was yelling in a language Raoul didn't speak, but that didn't mean he didn't understand. He immediately shifted the girl in his arms and shot at the large pirate, knowing it would alert all other guards. There was nothing he could do.*
"No Time!" *He called as he began running toward the gangplank.* "Follow me!"

Johanna grabbed his hand and ran for her life.

*Insert chase scene here.*
*Winding through the streets and back alleys, he tried to lose their pursuers, and finally they ended up in his two dingy, small rooms above a restaurant that he'd rented until he could find them. They'd stay here until he could buy them passage home.*

((I don't know how many girls are supposed to be with them- let's assume they've gotten rooms for most of them as well.))
As soon as they were alone, Johanna buried her head in her husband's lop, sobbing with relief.

((He can't have gotten any more than Sorelli, Jo, and the three who approached afterward. No time. All six of them are now in these rooms until they go home.))
*He stroked her hair, pulling her up so he could hold her against his shoulder.*
"Shh, it's alright. I'm here now."
*The other women were in the next room, a larger parlor-type room. God willing, they'd be out of here before nightfall.*

"I am so sorry I couldn't find you sooner." *He said softly, his voice halting.*
"I'm sorry they ever found you. I don't know if I can ever forgive myself for not protecting you."

**LATER** Needless to say, when Sao Feng returned to his ship, it was not a pretty sight when he discovered what had happened to his cargo. By the end of the night, there would be three less crewmen, the remaining girls locked down tighter than a fortress, and Feng's on-land agents alerted to the theft. Feng himself could not stay here--he still had to take what remained of the girls to Australia. It would take some explaining as to the smaller than expected size of the cargo, but Feng was an excellent negotiator ...
