"You'd think after so many people from the future I'd be used to it. But really, I was raised in a society that makes piano leg covers because it considers piano legs immodest for being legs." *She said sheepishly, looking somewhat less personally affronted.*

"Well you need to learn to live a little" he laughed a little relieved* "you're always cooped up in this school or sitting at that opera house, you need to get out, have some fun!" Smirking he took another drag from his cigarette.

"What is this 'fun'? I don't understand." *She said dryly.*

He chuckled "Oh I'm sure" he leaned foreward "how about I take you out, just as friends, you can show me Paris and I can show you fun, what do you say?"

*She raised an eyebrow.* "Depends on where you want to go in Paris."

"Someplace I won't get killed" he said seriously "I've heard enough stories since I've been here to fill up a novel."

*Adrienne chuckled.* "Oh you're more likely to get killed in the nice areas than you are in Montmartre or the banlieues. The vampires like blue blood mostly, and the other criminals hang out in the slums or the Opera house. Centre-ville is full of flashy parties that cost lots of money and are full of boring old people, and the slums explain themselves, so that essentially leaves the artsy areas."

"Artsy sounds good to me" he shrugged and leaned back "I don't know if you could tell but it's not like I'd fit in with any of the upper class."

"You wouldn't be here if you did. And they're endlessly boring anyway, gossiping and talking about fabrics and twittering about scandal and constantly foisting potential mates on you." *She waved a hand dismissively.*

"Absolutely riveting. Especially Lady Berthillon starts her story about her chandelier."

"Sounds like my family, dads college stories and moms exciting quilting club."

"A quilting club? How absolutely fascinating; you shall have to tell me sometime. I've heard of a sewing circle but a quilting club... now that is revolutionary."

Max sputtered "I might just."
He liked this girl, even if she was a teacher and probably younger than him. He wasn't sure what that meant, or if it even meant what it implied. But at least he had made a friend.

"I'm not very good at either, actually. The last time I tried to make my father a shirt I was eleven, and it was Christmas, and it ended up looking like a ruffly monster." *She chuckled a little at the memory.* "He wore it anyway."
