"Sure." *Brandi answered, taking the money and trading her a key.*
"The room is upstairs. The bathroom is at the end of the hall." *She smiled politely.*

*Helen smiled grateful, and took the key.*
"Thank you. Is it possible to move around in this town without getting noticed? I mean... if I need to go somewhere to eat, or I need anything at the market?"

*Brandi started to worry what sort of trouble this girl was bringing. Not that she couldn't handle it, but there were an awful lot of kids upstairs that didn't need the extra hassle.*
"I serve three meals a day here, if you don't want to go out. And I'd be happy to pick up anything you need if you'll leave the money and a list." *She offered.*
"As to being noticed, it's hard to say, but if you're hiding, your best bet is always to stay hidden inside."

*Helen smiled and nodded, grateful that she wasn't kicked out.*
"I think it would be wise of me to stay hidden for the moment. The man I mentioned is my husband, King Menelaus of Sparta. I ran away from him because our marriage was a disaster. But I am afraid he will come looking for me."
*She felt she had to tell this kind woman what to expect, should she choose to house her. She knew how jealous her husband was.*
"I am greatful for your kind offering, and will be glad to give you a list and money if I need anything. My husband will probably search through the entire town to find me."

*Brandi blinked.*
You must be kidding me...
"You're...Helen?" *She asked. Thought why she should be surprised...but she kinda wasn't.*
"Well, stay here as long as you feel safe. I know this isn't a fortress."

*Helen blushed, but couldn't help but to smile. It felt good to speak to someone who understood.*
"You have heard of me? Yes, I am Helen, princess of Troy. After the fall of Troy, my husband Menelaus tried to force me back to Sparta with him. But I ran away. I ran to the beach, pushed a boat out in the water and escaped. I fell asleep in the boat, and when I woke up, I was here."
*She smiled again.*
"I feel completely safe here. Wolves are a token of luck. And knowing my husband, he will probably start looking for me in a fortress or a castle."

*Brandi did her best to keep smiling, remembering it was her job.*
"Well...you're free to stay as long as you would like to and can pay. But I don't have any guards." *She glanced back to the wolfish man.*
"I mean the kind that where armor and stand outside doors and such."

*Helen smiled.*
"My parents were rich. I have money enough. So that's the least of my worries. Don't worry about the guards. My husband would probably be looking for places with soldiers first. So I do the opposite of what he thinks I will do."
*She smiled at the wolf.*
"And I feel completely safe in the presence of this wolf. I doubt he will allow any soldiers in here."

Riiight.
*Brandi tried not to ask how Helen had taken all of her parent's money as she snuck out of the palace and into her boat. In the end, asking probably wouldn't help. She glanced to the wolf with a nod.*
"I suppose that's between you and him."
((Who we should wait for.))

*If Helen had known what Brandi was wondering about, she could have told her that young Greek princesses brough with them a dowry into their marriage. The dowry could be disposed by their husbands as long as the marriage lasted, but it was considered a property belonging to the young bride. An insurance or a guarantee that she would be taken care of financially. Menelaus had placed her dowry wisely, making her rich. So when she escaped with Paris, she had brought with her all her dowry, since it was rightfully hers. She didn't care what Menelaus thought about it. He had a fortune of his own. When Brandi suggested she waited for the wolf's reply about her request for a protector she smiled and nodded. She turned her head and looked into the wolf-man's eyes, her own bright blue eyes glittering, while she awaited his reply. Her destiny was at his hands now. Or rather paws.* ((Well Kiba, what do you say? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ))

Eye contact was unsettling for wolves in general, but he supposed it couldn't be helped since humans liked looking at each other so much.
He was good at protecting people, though.
"All right," he told her. "How bad can one man and some soldiers be? If I hear anything, I'll just get you out of here--they won't be able to catch up after I've been running for a day."
((How long would it take for a human to travel 20 miles without dropping dead of exhaustion? Kiba would carry Helen most of the way, but unless Menelaus brought a horse along, I don't think he'd be able to just walk the entire distance. ))

*Helen smiled warmly to the wolf.* "Thank you. I feel much safer having your protection. A big, strong wolf like you will easily run away from my husband." ((Kiba is so sweet protecting Helen ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Menelaus didn't bring a horse along. In his days, the soldiers marched where ever they were going. Except from when they had to cross the ocean of course, then they used ships. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Menelaus wouldn't be capable of traveling the entire distance as fast as Kiba. He would need a lot of rests.))

"Hmph. How bad can he be if he took this long to track you down?" Kiba asked, though any scorn in his tone was meant for Menelaus. Considering Helen had gotten this far on her own, he didn't think protecting her would be all that hard.
Of course, Cheza had been easy to protect as well--Darcia had been the only real threat to her safety, especially after he went crazy and started trying to open Paradise as a wolf-hybrid freak.

Helen smiled when she noticed the scorn meant for Menelaus in the wolf's voice. Then she became serious again, thinking of how powerful her husband was. Her former husband, she reminded herself. She didn't want to be with him. He had never asked her to marry him. She was given to him by her parents.
"Well, the Kingdom of Sparta, where he rules, is a warrior state. The most powerful in my part of the world. And he is a mighty king who has a huge and brave army to his disposal. I don't think he will bring his entire army here though. It will be easier for him to hire warriors here. If he can find some. But he is rich, and people fall for his looks and his gold. When that is said, I must also warn you that he is courageous, and a skilled warrior himself."
She still remembered how Paris cowardly had backed out when Menelaus had challenged him to a duel. She had felt disappointed then. And Menelaus had looked at Paris with disgust, before turning to her saying: "Is this what you left me for?" His voice was still ringing in her ears.

"I've faced worse," he answered. "As powerful as he and his army is, they're still humans."
Helen was starting to remind him a little bit of Cheza, who had also been pursued by an army--several of them, after the other nobles turned against Darcia.
It didn't help that they both wore light colors.
