*Well, not literally of course, but it certain felt delightfully familiar to return to this sacred place. William smiled privately as he ascended the marble steps. It was not proper work that he was here for at the moment, the new show had not yet begun, but he felt an instinctive drive to return here and get his bearings. He wandered quietly through her great halls, admiring the details and crafting that had gone into this monument to the musical arts.*

Louis had returned to the opera house for the fifth time that night, he was avoiding home, avoiding Lestat, avoiding eternity, if it were at all possible.

*William noticed the beautiful young man. How could he not? There was an otherworldly quality about him, something hypnotizing about him. He approached the man and addressed him politely.*
"Pardon me, but are you employed by the Opera?" *With a body like that, he did not want to hazard a guess between singer or dancer.*

Louis turned slowly to the man with a smile "No, I'm afraid not."

"More's the pity." *William answered softly, admiring the delicate features of the man.*
"Just visiting then?" *He queried gently.* "The monument, or a particular artist?" *He couldn't really help it. Like any critic, he was a terrible gossip, at least when it came to knowing things.*

Louis smiled haphazardly and placed his hands behind his back "The monument, this is the second time I have been here today" he lied, it was the fourth "it seems to draw me back, like a memory that can not be forgot."

*William's eyes lit up in camaraderie.*
"I know just what you mean." *His gaze drifted lovingly over the architecture.*
"It's been years, but part of it is like I never left."
*Realizing that he was getting sentimental, he regained some composure and offered his hand.*
"Forgive me. William Aubrey. It's a pleasure to meet fellow lover."

Louis took the mans hand gracefully with a raised eyebrow, the man was interesting to say the least "Louis de Pointe du Lac, charmed."

*A small smile crept over William's face. There was something about this man. He definitely wasn't...like anyone he'd met.*
"I don't mean to be tedious, but if you are not otherwise engaged...it would prove most helpful if you might show me about the place. If you frequent it, it's more likely that you would be familiar with the changes that must have taken place in the last few years."
*He held the man's gaze for a long moment, then lifted his eyes away.*
"But of course, if you had other plans... Please feel free to set me on about my own way."

Louis looked up at a large ornate clock on the wall,
Eleven hours till sunrise.
"I could use the company" he replied softly "I know the opera populare well enough to make historians blush in their inaccuracies, come." He waved the man along and began to explain some of the history of the place.

*William followed along happily, learning quiet a bit about the history of the Opera. He didn't mind, though he would rather get in some juicy information about who was in the company this season and whole had managed to wine away their careers. Still, a nice welcome back. He smile warmly.*
"So what is it that you do, sir, that you know so much yet are not employed by the Opera? They should be lucky to have you."

"I own a plantation on the outskirts of the city" he said with a cold smile "the opera would not take me I am sure, I am not part of their plans" he touched the soft velvet of a curtain and turned to William.
"And what is it that you do sir?"

*William lowered his eyes with a shy shrug.*
"I'm a writer for the Gazette. I admit there are worse things to do for a living than by paid to take in the theater."
Handsomely.

"Ahh yes, this is where I know you from I have read some of your pieces" Louis smiled "you're quite harsh."

*William arched his brow, a bit wounded.*
"Only to those who deserve it. I can praise exquisitely also." *His smile returned cautiously.*
