*Tony stumbled into the empty room, falling heavily upon a sofa before the empty fireplace, his head spinning as he tried to catch his breath. He wondered if he were ill--or at least more ill than usual.*

*Cautiously, Treszka entered the room, knowing full well that she was being an intruder. But the odd feeling she was getting from him--when she caught sight of him, it increased. It was, strangely enough, similar to the vibes her mother had given off.
She was halfway into the room when she remembered something her father had once said*
You can sense those that have had a brush with death, or been returned from death.
"Hello?" She called timidly.

That voice...
*There was something about that voice.*
"What is it?" *he whispered hoarsely, one hand covering his eyes.*

"I'll understand if you want me to leave, but I...I wanted to see if you needed anything?"
*She flinched at how small her voice sounded. It was ridiculous--he wasn't going to bite her head off, after all*

"Killing me might be a good start," *he muttered, trying to make it a joke and failing.*
"Never mind," *he sighed.* "Go back to your party."

Are you sure you haven't died already?
"The trouble with that...would be, misery could seek you even after."
*She blushed. Why did she say that to him?*
"I'm sorry. I just can't help feeling it's my fault, somehow."

"...don't trouble yourself. It's all my own fault. Nothing but mine."

*She wondered what had happened to him, but she couldn't just blurt a question like that out--they hardly knew each other.*
"I know we're, er, basically strangers...but since we're sort of family now...if you ever need a soundingboard..."

*Tony sat up like a shot, effectively interrupting her with the motion and quickly following with spoken venom.*
"There is no one in all of this earth, heaven or hell that could help me to regain what I have lost, mademoiselle, or show me forgiveness for what I have done. Pray do not insult us both by presuming you might."

*She flinched at the sudden movement, but at his words, her gaze hardened*
"Did I say I was going to cure you of all your ills? All I said was soundingboard, which is not the same thing as offering to fix everything."
*Her temper was rising, she knew, a fire inherited from her father*
"Fine. I won't help you for anything." She snapped, and turned on her heel.

*Tony fell back onto the couch, his eyes closing again as she left. Only...it felt as if something left with her. Deep in his misery as he was, there was almost a chilling of the air as she departed, and the fine hairs at the back of his neck prickled with strange awareness.*
"Wait," *he gasped hoarsely, sitting up again, staring dumbly after her.*
"...what...who are you?" *he whispered.*

*She was fully prepared to keep on walking without heeding him at all. The anger made that easy enough. But the question halted her in her tracks.
Slowly, she turned her head to look back at him*
"I'm nobody special. Just Treszka."
What am I?
*There was no way she was answering that*

Just Treszka. Just something. Just familiar. Just...right.
"...and your family's name?"
Please...be some random debutante...people with just one name rarely bode well for me.

*Oh, shit. Her father didn't have a...well, name period, and it had never been resolved if Treszka should have her mother's surname or she should just be Treszka.
From her memory, she recalled a name that would come up connected to Hapsburg*
"Wittelsbach."
