That was a relief. While she had no idea if a zombie bite would even do anything to someone like Lavinia other than hurt, the last thing she wanted was to find out otherwise.
"Good. At least they follow the slow rule still..."
Finally, she recalled what else had been mentioned.
"Tybalt?"

Slow rule?
Just a thought, not meant to be spoken, but there nonetheless. Lavinia would have a hard time adjusting to this.
Wondering if she could, if this would work, she tried to - she didn't know; beam, she supposed, was the operative word; whatever it was the wonderful witch had enabled her to do - the image to Maria, of the intense and striking man she had met, the first image coming into her mind that of how he'd looked as she'd waved to him and called his name telepathically.
It had not yet occurred to Lavinia that she should not speak to everyone, as some people might find it strange or unsettling, and certainly wouldn't have occurred to her to ask Maria about it.

"Oh, generally speaking, zombies are slow."
Her eyebrows went up at the image of Tybalt. She hadn't known that Lavinia could project pictures, too. It was only a brief surprise, as it was quickly replaced by another emotion entirely.
"Well, isn't he a sight for sore eyes!"

Lavinia was really oblivious to what exactly the idiom meant, as it sounded enormously unpleasant, but she deduced something about it from Maria's general excitement - not that she wasn't already enormously extroverted, especially compared to Lavinia - and from what she herself knew of him.
She smiled as though moderately distracted. Yes, he looked very Roman to me, she said, which of course was not the same thing as saying he was enormously beautiful in appearance. He did happen to have looked Roman to Lavinia, though, which was the point. That, combined with his good looks, had made an impression. He had not been at all inclined towards some sort of flirtatiousness, and this had made Lavinia feel much more secure. He ran first. His friend had a chair. He used it to hit the zombies before he came with us. Both the hardening of her mouth and her general stillness, and her tone, revealed that she did not like his friend.

"It was nice of them, helping you out."
She got a sense of dislike, at least about Tybalt's friend, but she decided not to pry.
"I hope this zombie thing isn't something permanent. That'll really make life more difficult than it already is in this place."

Them, thought Lavinia, as though Maria was assuming far too much but was too knowing to speak on it.
How would one get rid of them? she asked wonderingly, before bouncing nervously. Difficult?

"Them." She said, echoing Lavinia.
"Well...they're not hard to destroy but, it's...er...messy."

Maria's repetition gave her the need to clarify. Tybalt did. Tybalt. No them.
It wasn't harried or angry, just a tiny bit mixed up, like when she'd been thinking in streams of words.
But can be done?

"Okay, Tybalt."
Wow, she must really not like the other guy.
"And yeah, it can. It's just gross. You, um, have to bash their head in."

Lavinia cringed, but, perhaps macabrely, not because of the visual nearly so much as other things.
Ohgods I can't bash can't hold anything to bash...
She swayed a bit and darted into Maria's room unthinkingly, finally sitting in a chair and bending over, trying to even her breathing. After a moment, she sat up and curled up in it.
Will be safe in the hotel?

Maria hadn't even paused to consider who she was talking to, but then thoughtlessness was something that wasn't out of character for her. She followed Lavinia, closing the door behind her before stopping at the other woman's side.
"Oh! I'm sorry! I...well, yes, you should be fine. Zombies are no match for vampires."

This was calming news indeed.
Might they not even come here? she thought hopefully, perking up a bit around the shoulders.

Maria put a comforting arm around her shoulders.
"We're a bit off the beaten path, and I think they'd rather stay where there's a lot of people, so we're not likely to see them."

This greatly cheered Lavinia up. She had spent the day terrified that they would storm the hotel before Maria woke up and she'd be alone when it happened. Even though nothing had managed to kill her - and dying might be a release - these kinds of situations made her panic terribly.
She leaned back in the chair, covering her eyes with the stumps of her wrists, and tried to recall something, but failed.
I think... I think I've seen this happen before, she said, lowering her arms and looking up at Maria with a thoughtful frown.

Her concerned look turned to one of surprise.
"Oh? I didn't think there might've been other break-outs before."
