That was better than nothing--at least he wouldn't stink. "Thanks, then. So..who's this Erik anyway, and why's it so important that he sees me?"

*Julian glanced casually to the other.*
"He is my mother. And it was for his spirit that I restored your form."
*It was a simple matter to him. He saw nothing strange about it.*

Well that made some kind of no sense at all.
"I see." he said a bit uncomfortably and rocked on his heels until the little elevator came to a stop.

*Julian saw no reason to speak more on the matter, so it was quiet until they reached the cellars and he worked the lever to open the door.*
((I'll post back in the cellars.))

**NEW DAY**
Kim couldn't believe that nobody had been guarding the door to the stairs, or that there hadn't even been a lock on it. In fact, when she'd asked how to get to the roof, one of the ballet dancers seemed all too happy to tell her the exact way to go. The surprise wore off, however. Helpful people were always welcome!
Once she'd stepped outside, she stood by the door, stopped in her tracks by the magnificent view that the rooftop gave her of Paris. It was breathtaking.

"Glorious, isn't it?"
The cat was perched upon the head of one of the many statues, gazing down at her with wide yellow eyes and wider white teeth.
"Of course, I prefer more colorful foliage myself. But there's due time to paint this town yet."

"Oh, yes. I've never seen anything like it before." She said, glancing around for the speaker.
She blinked at the sight of the cat.
"Did...did you just talk?"
It couldn't be. First the odd woman in the auditorium, and now...

"Well, I'm quite certain that I just did, yes." It tilted its head to one side at a slightly unnatural angle, still grinning all the while.
"But one supposes I could be mistaken. Tell me, what do you think?"

She stated wide-eyed at him, not sure what to make of it.
"I...I've never met a talking cat before."

The cat chuckled lightly.
"Oh, believe me, talking is the least of the tricks I can do. But as things go, in this world," it continued, even as its tail was slowly beginning to disappear and the rest of it to follow, "I'm rather small potatoes. Barely even worth a mention, compared to some of the things you've yet to see."

"Oh...I..." She gasped.
"Your tail is disappearing!"

"Is it?" The cat was now down to, quite literally, nothing but a smile.
Oh, and some floating eyeballs.
The mouth and eyes drifted over so they were looking straight into Kim's as the cat chuckled again.
"I must confess, I hadn't noticed."

She took a step back when the...disembodied...eyes and smile moved closer. The rest of the cat had faded away while they'd been talking, though she couldn't for the life of her recall how that had happened or...how was standing there?
"It, er, doesn't hurt?"

"Why? Does it hurt when you cut your hair, or remove the tips of your fingernails?"

"Well, no...but..."
But what? To be honest, she didn't know, and her initial shock was giving way to curiosity.
"How do you do that? The disappearing, I mean."
