Continued from: Julian%27s+room*But the ride took longer and longer, much to long to merely be going to the street. Julian was silent for the rest of the trip, deep in thought. Or ignoring the man. Finally the cart slowed and stopped. Julian locked a few things in place, then opened the door. A cool, fresh breeze could be felt faintly.* ((To the roof. )) *Julian glanced out the open door and back to Grantaire with a smile.* "The air you seek is that way, sir." *The dumbwaiter ran up into a hollow column of the roof. Just outside it was the evening air.*

Somehow, Grantaire thought it ought to have been daytime--another reason he needed to get out of the darkness below.
"I know you mean well, monsieur, and I suppose I appreciate what you've done...to an extent. But I really have to be going. To sort out my life."

"There's time." *Julian answered simply, stepping out onto the roof.*
"You will have plenty of time to do all such things. After Erik sees you."
*The way he spoke made it perfectly clear that this was going to be the final say on the matter.*

The little man sighed and remained in the dumbwaiter.
"So now I'm a prisoner. Excellent. You're a bit of an ass, you know that?"

*Julian turned back to the man with a frown.*
"I disagree. I have been nothing but civil to you. You asked me to kill you, I did. I cannot be blamed that you didn't move on. The body is not meant for you. I will see you as comfortable as possible in the meantime, but you will not leave until Erik can study you to his satisfaction. Call it what you must."
*He arched a brow coolly.*
"You are welcome to leave any time you like. But the body remains."

"I wasn't even supposed to be dead--Death himself told you that. And you went mucking about with my body anyway. When I leave, its going with me, because its mine and you can just suck me."
He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back in the dumbwaiter.
"You can take me to street level and drop me off, I'll come back so this...Erik can have a look after I've sorted out my own affairs. Or you can drag me back and try to convince your friend that you succeeded when your "creation" is still as a corpse."

((You almost killed me on my lunch.))
*Julian wasn't about to be threatened into anything. Especially by a man that wasn't even supposed to be here.*
"Erik will understand. He knows I have no reason to lie to him."
*He shrugged, stepping back into the dumbwaiter.*
"Besides, the body was only meant to be a shell. Inactivity would have no influence over success of that."

"How will you show him it's working if, well, it's not working."
He was at a bit of a loss for what to do to get out of the situation and didn't want his author to have to wait a week for Erik, but the best thing he could think of, was to dive through the doors of the dumbwaiter just before they closed. Of course, that left him on the roof, but at least there was a way back into the Opera up here. And there were always people about in the great building. Safety in numbers and all that.

((I feel for you, but I just can't see Julian just letting him go. But I'll try to compromise.))
*Julian sighed in building frustration.*
"What is it that you need to do exactly?"

"I should go and see my father, first. He stables horses outside the city. And I need to find work so I can pay off my backrent and buy clothes that actually fit." Other than that, he really didn't have anyone to check up on or anything else to really "take care of"

"I will take you to your father." *Julian said simply, as if checking things off the list.*
"And I will give you the money you need for this...backrent and clothing."
*His brow lifted.*
"Was there anything else?"

"Fine. --but when I go to see him, you'll have to stay out of the grounds. He has some pretty particular ideas, and my showing up with a man will only anger him." he sighed.
"You're going to keep me down in the dark forever, or what? I don't like it."

I don't care.
*Julian was eerily calm.*
"Not forever. Just as long as it takes. But since you want to do all of this business first, it will take some time."
*He pulled a lever, the door shut and they began their decent.*

"I need the air." he argued, lightly. "And a bath--can I bathe? I reek of formaldehyde and gods know what else."

*Julian frowned. This man complained a lot. Still. He answered him calmly.*
"The body isn't sealed properly enough at this time to be submerged, but you could probably sponge bathe."
*If he didn't let up, it was likely that he might find himself a corpse again. Erik would understand.*
