I don't know, I think I could see the point of such specificity. But more to the point. I think we need two more categories, both and neither. Undisclosed is really nonspecific, and while it might be true to the observer, it's not necessarily what the character itself would say.

I think it's really a matter of how the character would want to be seen.

Megan: HereSarrin: But I thought the purpose was not for the character to keep track of what it is, but for those of us reading the board to determine what the character presents as and to help in interaction. Thus, my Alex started out "male" because that's what she was presented herself as--when I added "undisclosed" I switched. Neither is already an option. If you can think of a succinct way to list the options, I'm happy to try it. I just couldn't think of a situation where a character would be identifying to others as something other than those four.

I was just teasing. Even though that's what it started as, once the options were added it inevitably became character-expression, because that's what people do with their profiles. I was very disappointed because I couldn't change Rosalind's very much. It's usually disclosed very plainly; it's just not always true.

I'm confused. What do you want Rosalind's to disclose?
I think on an RP board it's inevitably character expression--otherwise, all of them would be female for me and it would be irrelevant.

I can't figure out what you mean by:

As in, I can't figure out what you want hers to say. Do you want it to disclose that she's disguised?

I didn't really know what I wanted it to say, but I knew that "undisclosed", unlike with Alex, wouldn't work for her.

But at any given time, she's either presenting as male or female, right? I mean, to the outside observer.
Technically, Alex's should say male, only she's been really lax with it lately so her disguise is less so around most people.
