"Thank you," she said softly. "I know I'll probably never have you... so I thought one kiss..."

"You thought," *he growled, advancing slowly but steadily on her,* "very, very wrong."
*His hand shot out and clutched her throat, effectively cutting off her speech, because the last thing he really needed right now was more of her patter, or her pity, or her... her inappropriate, obscene regard for him. How dare she violate him? He had never done half as much to Christine, and she, she could only bring herself to kiss his poor forehead. But he hadn't forced her, no. He'd been a gentleman.*
For all the good it's done you, Erik.
"You cannot follow a simple instruction, can you? You... you trick me into this chair, you promise transformation, and this is all you have to offer?"
*He pressed his face close to her, seeking now to repulse her, to expunge whatever it was that motivated the girl. But she was clutching at his hand, making funny noises, turning a rather livid shade of crimson...*

He's... he's killing me!
Megan's thoughts were racing, but she struggled to stay composed.
"I... didn't... want to muss the makeup...afterward..."

*Death slithered out of the shadows. He almost couldn’t believe it…the house of a master at the craft. He was near giddy, even as he did his best to play it cool and somber. After all, death was a somber thing. Normally at least. Sometime it was really funny. But maybe that was only to him. He refocused and stood by patiently, watching as Erik squeezed the life out of the girl.*
Maybe we should go for coffee after. Unless he has the same post kill ritual that Demiselle does…no, he couldn’t. That’d just be weird. Coffee. Or a drink. Or dinner. Whatever.

((The fact that that's what she thinks his problem is... Oh, I worry for v!Megan.))
*He laughed cruelly.* "It is true, Erik will never know if you could have delivered on your promise. You profess such regard for him, yet you treat me--" *He looked up and to his left suddenly, and what he saw made him drop the girl like a cobra. Well, one he hadn't charmed, of course.*
"Death?"

Megan, fangirlish as ever, made a strong attempt at trying to wilt to the floor like the heroine of a Gothic novel.

*Death suddenly looked a bit spooked.*
"I...I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude. It's just...you know...I'm here to pick up..."
My next delievery.
*He gestured at the girl with a skeletal hand.*
"Whenever your done. I didn't mean to distract you."

Megan, her breath returned, tried to rearrange herself into a dramatic "oh, the vapors!" kind of pose.

"Oh." *Erik glanced confusedly back at the girl, who was staggering about in a most indecorous manner. He frowned.* "I..." *He took a step towards her, but the fire had gone out and it just didn't seem worth it anymore. He stopped, frowning.*
"Erik doesn't... quite feel like it just now," *he said finally, then regretted it as he imagined how bad that must sound to Death. And here he'd just learned of the master's esteem of him!*
"Erik is not usually like this," *he swore to Death.* "This is the first time."

Megan blushed and took this as a great compliment.

*Death would have blushed if he could have. As it was, he took a few steps towards Erik and bowed his head humbly.*
"It was my fault, please forgive me."
*He looked briefly to the girl and back to him.*
"We can wait until you feel up to it again...all of us lose the mood occasionally. If you would like, I can go. Maybe the privacy will re-inspire you."
*He shifted in a shy half shrug, averting his eyes.*
"I admit, I just wanted to see you work. And I've gone and spoiled everything. I hope that I'll be able to make it up to you."
*He looked up with hope in his eye-sockets.*

"Oh, no! You're no trouble," *Erik said, a little too eagerly.* "This is so embarrassing! You finally come to watch Erik work, and he is... incapable."
*He hung his head.*
"Erik has ruined your good opinion of him," *he said sadly.*

Megan looked from Death to Erik and back.
"Would it help if I let you kill me?"

*Death put a bony hand on Erik's shoulder, his voice very low as to keep it private.*
"That would never happen. It couldn't. I promise. This..."
*He gestured to the girl without looking to her.*
"It's nothing. Maybe I was just too over eager. I admit that I am occasionally caught up thus. Maybe she's not even on the list. Did you want to take a walk, clear your head?"

*Erik glanced up.*
"Really? You mean it?"
*He looked over at Megan.*
"Perhaps later," *he said, feeling rather shaken.*
"I would like that walk."
