Helen was holding on to Kiba, leaning against him while sitting on his back. She felt really safe with him. She looked over at the other girl, speaking softly to her.
"I think we have forgotten our manners," she said gently, like the princess she was.
"My name is Helen of Troy. And these two are my friends Kiba and Tsume. If we are going to enjoy your hospitality, we might just as well introduce ourselves."

Moonshade smiled, then started walking the path leading down to the village.
"My name is Moonshade. I am an elf, and I have lived in this area for as long as I can remember. I have never been anywhere else."
Not knowing what Helen had told about the elves, she did not specify whether she was a Light elf or a Dark elf.

When Tsume showed more signs of irritation at the girl's second misunderstanding, Kiba gave him another warning glance and stepped into the conversation himself.
"Don't mind Tsume--he takes a while to tolerate others."
He decided not to mention that the three of them were being chased by Menelaus, which was why they'd left Le Rouge.

Moonshade smiled gently.
"Oh, I don't mind. Most people take a while to get used to elves. We are so different from you, it seems. Besides, I think he is handsome."
She looked over at Tsume and gave him a flirtatious smile, even if she had never been flirting with boys before.

Tsume's response was a shrug. "If everything goes right, we won't have to stay very long. Kiba's got a different kind of hunt going on, anyway."

Moonshade looked disappointed when a shrug was all she got from him. Then her eyes glittered with humor, and her smile returned. She was never sad for long.
"What kind of hunt are you planning?"

"We're looking for someone," Kiba answered. "He might be looking for us, but I'm the one hunting him. If you run into someone called Menelaus, don't tell him we're here."
He nearly growled at the memory of having to run instead of fight, especially since it would have only taken a good bite to the throat to finish off the man, but he kept quiet and the only sign of his feelings were tensed muscles and, if Helen could feel them, his raised hackles.
"And Tsume, remember she's just a kid," Kiba told the other wolf. "You don't have to bite anyone's head off because of a misunderstanding."

Helen was sitting on Kiba's back, feeling how his muscles tensed by the mentioning of Menelaus. She also felt his raised hackles. She held Kiba closer, and gave him a gentle hug, in silent sympathy. She understood how he must have felt when he couldn't fight Menelaus off during their first meeting.

Moonshade had not at all noticed the tension from Kiba. She looked over at him and smiled, while they slowly got closer to the village. The landscape slowly changed around them, and they were now in an area of green hills and meadows with flowers of all colors. A narrow path was leading to the village.
"Menelaus.... I take it he is a human? I have not seen any humans in this area lately. I am certain that if any of the others had seen one, I would have heard of it. But I will let the others know as well, so we can look out for him. Why are you hunting him down?"

"Yep, he's a human. He's trying to kill Helen for some reason," Tsume answered. "I don't think we have to worry, though--he wasn't doing a good job even before she met up with us."
Both wolves looked around as the scenery changed from forest to hills and grass. They were looking, yes, but their more important sense was smell, and Tsume could bet that Kiba was cataloging every living thing's scent within range.

Helen sat on Kiba's back, looking at him with a smile as the landscape changed around them.
"What do you register here, Kiba?"
She whispered in his ear.
"These elves - are they good or evil? Is it dangerous for us to live with them?"

"They don't seem bad," Kiba told her in an equally hushed voice. "Nothing smells out of the ordinary, and everyone probably lives here. They wouldn't have let a child wander around if they didn't think their territory was safe."

The beforementioned child skipped happily in front of them, without any idea what they were talking about. They passed a tiny brook, where the village used to fetch their drinking water. There were some sheeps here in the meadow and Moonshade greeted them happily by name as she passed them.
"Hi Fluffy! Hi, Woolsock! Hi Baaaach!"
She turned to her guests.
"Take care when you pass Baaaach, he can be a bit grumpy, and ram into you."

Tsume didn't have to worry about getting rammed by a sheep--on the contrary, almost all of the flock had stopped what they were doing and were eying him and Kiba with varying degrees of fear. Even the grumpy sheep (Bach?) was keeping his distance apprehensively.
"You don't get visitors often, do you?" Tsume asked. "I never liked sheep anyway."

Moonshade looked at the sheep with a look of surprise in her violet, innocent eyes. She was pure of heart, shielded by her loving family, and had no idea there was evil in the world. She spoke to the sheep in a surprised voice.
"Hey, what's wrong with you? That's no way of saying hello to our guests!"
She turned and looked at Kiba and Tsume again.
"I'm sorry. I have never seen them like this before. I wonder why they behave like this. And you're right, Tsume. We don't get visitor's often. If they don't know our village exist, they usually pass by without noticing us."
