Harry touched her hand, then her cheek, carefully with his uninjured hand.
"You are not a killer, Lucy. No more than I. But there is a killer in each of us. A part of us that is capable, under certain circumstances. We're just different, you and me, because Jekyll made it possible for them break free of our control. You have Lucille, and I have Hyde. But I'm going to help you."

*She grabbed his collar*
"But I'm still one o' th' bloodsuckers! 'ow am I s'posed to live, when everytime I see somebody warm an'...an' lovely...I want to rip 'em up?!"

"You will live because you must, and because I will help you," he said. Harry gazed at her steadily, unafraid and open. "Do you want to rip me up, Lucy? Not even Lucille wanted that, remember?"

*Tears pricked her eyes, but she was smiling a little*
"No, not you. But I'm afraid...of what'll 'appen, 'round other people."

"I'm not," he said, smiling gently. "Because you want to be good, Lucy. And because we'll learn how to control this together. I know you don't know me. But can you trust me, just a little?"

*She nodded*
"I wanna try. Try to keep it in control an' to try an' trust you."

"Good girl," Harry smiled. He was not certain what he would do, or how he was going to help. But he knew he had to. "First things first; if you become hungry, you must tell me straightaway. Even if you're embarrassed. Far better than letting things run their course, hmm? And the other; you may become Lucille again even without recourse to the potion, which means that we must have some safeguards in place for when she undoubtedly does not wish to comply to your wishes."

*She listened carefully*
"Won't keep it to myself, I promise."
*She pursed her lips thoughtfully*
"What should we do for when Lucille comes back?"
*She didn't want Lucille to return--she hadn't liked what she could remember--but Harry was right in that they needed something in case she did*

Harry hesitated. He didn't know if he'd become Jekyll again, and if so, what Henry would consider the best option. He'd have to leave very convincing word with the man; no doubt Henry would remember, but it wouldn't hurt for Harry to write him a letter and tell him in no uncertain terms what was to be done.
Henry was always so good at listening.
"I have no desire to keep you here," he said. "Or under constant surveillance. That's the only way to be sure--for me to be with you, and take action, however, drastic, to keep Lucille here should she reappear. I have no wish to imprison you, however, dear Lucy. It is possible she would seek me out again--she seemed fond of me. But if she remembers this conversation, she may hate me now, as well."

"I don't think...I don't think she'd 'ate you. Be a bit pissed-off, more like, but not 'atin'."
*She glanced around the room again*
"Not a bad place, but I don't like jus' sittin' 'round. Can't live much 'at way, yanno?"

Harry laughed.
"No, it is an awful place. Henry figured you wouldn't find him, here. But you're right--it's no way to live. I suppose I shall just have to trust you--and trust myself to find you again, should you not return."

*She grinned*
"I'm mostly 'round th' Kit Kat, or th' bars an' such. But promise, I'll come back."

Harry reached out impulsively to touch her hair.
"You don't..."
He trailed off. He could not tell her she did not have to earn her living as she did, that he was more than willing to look after her, that she still called to him more than any woman he had ever known, in whatever form. He was, more or less literally, not his own man. He could make no promises. And he could hardly demand her compliance to some sort of monogamy he didn't believe in.
He just wished she wasn't earning her living that way. Such things should be given and received willingly.
"I should like to be the one you come home to," he said at last.

*Her grin became more of a smile.*
"I'd like 'at."

"It's settled then," Harry said cheerfully. "And you'll send word, or come yourself, should anything happen. I expect I'll be here much of the time, seeking a chemical remedy to our mutual problem."
It was possible he'd only make things worse. But drive was one thing he shared with Henry.
"I'm sorry it's not your Henry telling you this," he said, "but you're really quite dear to me, you know."
