Uh-oh...
*She most certainly did*
"I, er, well...I know yer not s'posed to touch none of 'at, an' I know it's stupid an' could'a killed me--"

"Yes, yes," he said, much more indulgently that Henry would have. "But it didn't, did it? It made you into... It split you into two different people, Lucy. You, Lucy Harris, and Lucille Harrison." He paused, not wishing to say this at all, and not knowing if it would help. "The same thing happened to me. And it's my fault--I never should have left anything like that lying about. I should have expected your tenacity."

*Well, at least he wasn't angry. That was a switch, and definitely one she could live with.
She didn't like the thought that she was two people now, though. Because if Lucille was her, then she was perfectly capable of the things that woman had done*
"I guess we both messed up, eh?"

"More than you know, my darling," Harry said, touching her cheek sadly. She still didn't realize, did she? Hyde, and him. "But I take full responsibility. And I want you to know that I'm sorry. For this, and also... for Henry. His behavior to you was inexcusable, but it was all he knew how to do. He never meant to hurt you, but his ideas about what that entails are not the same as mine."

*She gave him a rather crooked smile*
"S'all right. I seen all shades an' types. 'e's not th' worst by a long shot."
*She glanced about the room, then back to Harry*
"So...where are we?"

"That's not the point," he said. "He dealt dishonestly with you, because he wanted to protect you. I merely... I wanted you to know. He cares more than he is able to say." But he, Harry, could. "We're... in his apartment. Mine. It's hard... I haven't quite worked all that out, yet."

"Well, I ain't angry that 'e was doin' what 'e thought best, I jus' wish...well, 'e wasn't so...locked up 'bout it."
*He touched his cheek*
"An'...can I stay 'ere? Think I'm outta a job an' a place for th' moment..."

Harry laughed gently.
"You and me both, Lucy," he said. "I suppose, perhaps, he wouldn't need me, if he..." he trailed off. "Of course you can stay here. If it's not too strange for you."

"No, I mean the possibility that either of us may wake up as someone else," he said. He glanced over her. "I hate to ask this, but is there any chance you're still a vampire?"

*She started to answer, then stopped, a look of horror creeping over her features*
"I...don't know..."

Harry thought of an easy, if foolish and potentially dangerous, way to find out. He got out of bed, rooting around until he found a pear and a scalpel. He came back to the bed and sat on the edge before carefully cutting a slice of pear and then running the sharp blade down the pad of his thumb.
"Which do you want?" he asked quietly, holding the options before her.

*She'd watched with curiosity, wondering just what he was up to, but when he cut his thumb her eyes widened*
"Waita--"
*She stared, though, his words hanging in the air. And stared. And stared some more.
With a shudder, she turned away*
"Not 'ungry."
*She ignored the feeling that had reared up at the sight of the blood*

Harry frowned, and rose fluidly to bandage his thumb. Very carefully.
"I'm sorry, Lucy," he said, coming back to stand before her. "I should not have done that to you. I... had to know."

*She glanced at him from out of the corner of her eye, looking rather miserable*
"This can't be 'appenin'...I ain't one of those things...not...a killer."
