**FADE-IN**
*Harry, she decided, was definitely Henry's better half by far. A shame the man had been hiding this side of himself*
"I could get used to this." She said pleasantly.

"Mmmm," Harry agreed. "Still, I don't know if the change, in my case, is permanent. It's possible you might wake up next to an extremely mortified gentleman."

"And I could be a silly-headed prostitute again."
*She shrugged*
"All a roll of the dice."

"I'm not sure I take so much stock in chance as you," he said. "But I suppose the metaphor is apt enough."
He sighed.
"You were not so very silly," he said after a pause.

"No?" She said, a sneer creeping into her voice.
"A prostitute, with her head in the clouds. Dreaming of things she'd never have and some that she couldn't comprehend. And she knew she'd never have it, and hoped for it anyway. Rather pathetic, really."

Harry ran a hand through her hair.
"I suppose," he said slowly. "But don't you have hopes, my dear? Aspirations? Don't our hopes make us who we are, make us get up in the morning, when everything else seems futile? The fact she had you inside her, just waiting to be let out, tells me she was right to want more."

"I really don't think she ever aspired to kill people." She said plainly.
"Do you know what she wanted? To be a real actress. To one day fly away. To sing in an opera, to marry...Henry Jekyll. I am part of that, but I make up things she'd never do."

"Well, I'd prefer you didn't kill people," Harry said plainly, though oddly without any hint of pedantry. He kept playing with her hair and touching her skin gently. "But don't you think I understand? Henry had me inside him, as well as Hyde. And part of him was wrong--about his experiments, and about the results. But does that mean he should not have undertaken them? That he should not have had those hopes? It was, perhaps, foolish for Lucy to think she could marry him, under the circumstances. But is it foolish to want to? Look at us."

"I suppose not foolish to want to," she said with a slight pout. "But foolish in the end as it wouldn't have happened. Considering their positions, it was a hopeless thing to wish for."

Harry shrugged easily.
"I'm not so certain that's not how we get anywhere," he said. "How many doctors set out to save the world? None do--but how many wouldn't have started, without those dreams to begin with? It matters little that we don't get what we want. What matters is that we try."
He smiled, a little apologetically.
"But I'm wittering on, aren't I? You don't want to hear about that. You like being carefree. What do you wish for, Lucille?"

*She opened her mouth to answer, then stopped. When she thought about it...*
"I...don't know. I suppose that may be because I as a person didn't actually exist until recently."

Harry remembered being Hyde. Having no plans, living for the moment. Hyde was a very different creature from Lucille, but in that, perhaps they were similar. He felt sorry for her, a little.
"It doesn't matter," he assured her, cupping her face with his hand.

*She kissed his palm*
"I'm not worried. It truly doesn't bother me. I can do whatever I please, on a whim."

Of course it didn't bother her. She was a creature of whim, created for it. But it did not afford her much of a future. Or meaning. Even if she would now live forever.
"It is indeed an honor to be your whim, my dear."

*She started to say something, then suddenly seized up with a groan of pain*
"What...what...NO, DAMMIT!"
*And started twitching*
