He turned to find the little meal laid out on the bank and padded over to crouch down near the food, a few heavy chainlinks still dragging from his shackled ankle. Leaning over the pile of food, he used the long "thumb" claws of his wings bring bits of bread and fruit to his mouth, keeping his back to the Wolfrider--his eating was a messy affair when he had to feed himself.

*Dewshine had her back turned to him, just in case he was a messy eater. A man with that little knowledge about how to speak to a lady, surely didn't have any table manners! She cringed her cute little nose disapprovingly.*

Of course, his eating habits had less to do with his actual manners and more to do with his lack of hands. Once he'd cleared the entire setting and drank down the cold water the girl had brought, he stood and stretched again--shaking the leg with the shackle still dangling from it.
The bird-elf drew in a few deep breaths, crouched and pushed up into the air, flapping his great wings and climbing higher and higher until he was well above the green shade of the ground and the riverbank, circling, reintroducing himself to the winds.
You see, little elfling! Now you have witnessed my flight! His Sending called down and rang with the joy of his flight in the Wolfrider's mind.

*Dewshine heard flapping of wings and turned around, just in time to see him spread his enormous wings and fly up into the air. She beamed with joy as she looked up at him, obviously impressed. She had never seen an elf fly before, and he was impressive. Her smile flashed her shiny, white teeth, and her beautiful, blue eyes were sparkling from joy.*
Not bad! Your flying skills are impressive! Where did you learn to fly like that?

He circled higher and drifted over the Elven kingdom, no thoughts in his head but of the sky, at least for the time being. Soon, he would explore this new place and discover what it held, who was Lord here and what had become of his Gliders.
There is no "learning". When the wings were drawn out of me, I simply ~knew how to use them.
But he tired quickly, still quite weak from his long imprisonment and soon alighted on the bank of the river again, stumbling forward a bit, exhausted.

*Dewshine stood by the riverside and watched him fly. Her sparkling blue eyes widened in childlike wonder when she saw how high he went. She smiled, wondering slightly how it would feel to fly like that. When he landed and stumbled forward, she ran against him, ready to catch him if he should fall.*
"You're exhausted!" *She said unhappily.* "And it's my fault! You shouldn't have flied until you get your strength back."

"A...place to...rest." He croaked out, his thin chest heaving and his legs shaking a bit with his exhaustion.
Bring me to your elders, wolf-child.
Tyldak groaned and stumbled again, resting a moment on the forward crook of his wing before straightening and moving again. If Dewshine got up the courage to finally look at him, she could see that, though he was clean from the river, he was still painfully thin, his skin pale and dry, bruised and scraped.

*Dewshine turned around and looked at him. When she saw how miserable he looked, her warm heart filled with compassion and her eyes filled with tears.* "Please come with me. I'll take you to uncle Haldir! He is the Highest Commander of the Elven army! And the army listens more to him than to the king" *She danced on the path beside him with eager, skipping steps. Her golden curls were dancing in the sunlight.* ((Next thread. Haldirs office. sueniverse.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=lorien&action=display&thread=3636&page=1#174915)

Once away, he found himself trembling and his wings refused to carry him farther, though he had not gone far to begin with. He landed in the familiar glen and found the small opening to his former prison. The darkness welcomed him and he glided his way through the tunnels and caverns, landing in the large chamber that had held him for so long. A great, black womb.
The ends of his broken chain still hung from his ankle, and he found the other shattered end which still linked with the wall, there he crouched in the familiar, uncomfortable position and folded his wings over his head. Better to die in the dark than deal with the Recognition of a childish wolfling.

*Dewshine was running as fast as she could through the glen. For the first time in her life she was afraid to be too late. Her sharp instincts told her he had returned to his former prison. Without hesitation she ran into the deep, dark cave.
She lost sight of him in the darkness, and couldn't remember the direction. So she stopped. Panic fled through her mind, and she shouted from the top of her voice.*
"TYLDAAAAAAK!!!!"

No! She had followed him here, of all places! The bird-elf sunk back into the shadows and burried himself more securely under the shell of his wings, closing his mind once again, fighting the sickness that welled up in him.

*Dewshine heard a noise further into the darkness. She ran in the direction the noise had come from, further into the darkness. Not for one second did she fear her own safety. All she could think of now, was him.*
"TYLDAK!" *She shouted again.* "Where are you?"

He growled at the dark and Sent at her, viciously, rending her mind in the attempt to frighten her off.
Go away, Lree! If you do not go...if you come to me, I will hurt you!

*Dewshine was a young girl, but she was also a Wolfrider. Fear was a word she didn't know. And she was worried about him, more than for her self. She had set her mind to finding him. And she would find him. She continued walking in his direction. Sending him thoughts back.*
If you intend to hurt me as you say.... why do you go on using my soul name?

Stupid child! Have your elders taught you nothing?
His bitter laugh rang out in the darkness, echoing up the tunnels and around the damp dark.
Come, then! Into the cave of the "bloodsucking murderer"! Witness this sickness for yourself, it will ruin you!
