*Brandi sighed and rubbed her hands together.*
"Well...if they're not hungry at the moment, I think I might take a quick map before one of them changes their mind."
*She scrunched her nose, thinking.*
"Other than that..." *She shrugged.*

"I can watch them," Kris offered brightly. "You sleep. And I promise, I'll be around--for whatever you need."

*Brandi lowered her eyes for a moment, pushing herself up and out of the chair and approaching Kris. She touched the back of her hand softly, still marveling in the simple act of touching.*
"Actually..." *She started shyly.* "I was wondering...if you didn't have plans...I could go for some cuddles."
*She shrugged quickly.*
"I mean, if you want."

Kris smiled shyly.
"Don't have plans," she said softly, gazing at Brandi. "I could go for that."
She tugged on her hand, pulling Brandi closer and kissing her lightly on the forehead.

*Brandi sighed, finding a small peace against the other girl.*
"Thanks. It's just...that would be nice."
And I don't sleep well alone.
*She gave her hand a squeeze and pulled her gently towards the door.*
"Should probably get a head start. They'll be changing their minds all too soon."

Kris followed after, drifting along in her wake.
"Yeah, all right," she said.

*Brandi smiled as they slipped out the door and she shut it behind them quietly.*
"Do you mind if we crash at your place?" *She asked quietly. She wasn't sure she could handle being in her bed with Kris, but without Cry-Baby. It seemed a little weird.*

Kris read the significance behind her request.
"Sure," she said. "Any time."

**WHILE BRANDI IS PERIODICALLY AWAY IN LORIEN**
Kris wondered how Brandi did it. Especially without Cry-Baby around to help. She assumed he helped. He seemed like the type.
There were just so many of them. And she was desperately afraid of doing something wrong. Still, Brandi hadn't left her unprepared, and she had milk and diapers and things aplenty.
Lolcat still stood sentinel over the new girl, and he was careful enough that Kris saw no reason to deter him. His devotion was, after all, sort of cute. And he was able to comfort her, which took a tiny part of the burden off Kris.
She didn't blame Brandi for having plot. And it was probably a good experience for her, this sort of responsibility. But it was forcing her to stretch in ways she really hadn't before.

((Aww...so cute. Were you looking for something in particular? Like Brandi checking back in or baby weirdness or anything?))

*Most of them were well behaved in general, there was the occasional cry here or there. Killian and Aiden seemed particularly quiet, but Locke, Stalk and Bearel were a handful. They kicked about in their cribs, Bearel almost bringing his onto two legs.*

**AFTER THE FIGHT/OTHER THING IN THE ALLEY. WITH RAZIEL. ROWR.**
He felt nothing.
He figured that meant it was safe to go back. He had no where else to go, and he was tired of wandering, of not sleeping, of being away from home. Without a thought for his disheveled state, or his bloody face, he roared back to the Inn and took the steps up to the nursery two at a time.
Brandi wasn't there. He hadn't really thought about it, just expected her. Instead, it was Kris, who glanced up with a bright smile that faded as she got a look at him. 'Cause he wasn't Brandi, or 'cause he was all bloody?
"Cry-Baby!" she exclaimed, setting one of the kids down--Cry-Baby thought it was Gavyn, but wasn't sure--and starting towards him. She seemed to hesitate, and he found himself unsure about what she knew.
"Don' touch me," he mumbled.
"It's okay," she said, "Brandi's immune, maybe..." Her fingers on his cheek were gentle and cool, but they didn't ignite that spark he'd been afraid of and it was a few minutes before he thought to question her words. Immune... "You're hurt," she said obviously. "I mean, obviously. Your nose needs to be looked at." She peered up at him. "Say something."
"Got in a fight," he said.
She rolled her eyes. "I can see that."
"Where's Brandi?"
Kris's hesitation was ever so brief, but it was there. "She's taking a break," she said. "I don't think she's home. I'm sorry. I've been doing okay. With the kids, I mean."
They did all seem content, though Kris seemed a bit frazzled. Maybe she always looked that way, though. Cry-Baby couldn't remember. He also couldn't remember four of the kids, especially one with a funny face that that stupid fat cat was curled around. At the moment, he could hardly imagine them all being his. He couldn't imagine what he was doing here.
"Yeah, sure," he said. "'m gonna take a bath, I think."
"Okay," she said.

***LATER***
*Brandi sighed heavily as she emerged from the shadows in a surprisingly similar manner as Julian would, stepping into the nursery. She was still wound tight and figured it would do her good. She reached Aiden's crib and looked down at him, sleeping peacefully. Gently, she caressed his tiny cheek. They were so small. With the touch, the rage melted away (at least to normal annoyance). Aiden's eyes opened slowly, blinking up at her. She smiled back, stretching her neck and rubbing her relaxing muscles. Who would have ever thought that kids could take away stress? That just didn't seem right at all. Still, she was content here. She collapsed into the rocking chair, loosening the bodice before unpleating her hair. Once it fell loose, she ran tired fingers over her scalp, massaging it.*

His nose still hurt, and he figured there was still some blood he hadn't scraped away. He was cut and bruised, his broken nose contributing to black eyes. Still, he thought he'd check in on the kids once more before...
Cry-Baby paused in the doorway, drinking in the sight for a moment. His best girl, relaxed and happy. Doin' better than him. He suddenly felt guilty and shamed, knowing nothing like that thing he wasn't never gonna think about again had happened to her while he was away.
He swallowed, and realized that his body was tensing, reacting, and he couldn't believe it, but it was Brandi after all looking mighty fetching. He strode in abruptly and grabbed a kid, any kid, without preamble.

*It took Brandi a moment to respond to the sound but she looked up instinctively, surprised to see Cry-Baby standing near a crib and picking up Killian. She smile instantly at the thought of being with him again, him being back where he belonged, but...something was wrong. She was out of the chair and at his side in two ticks, her hands on his face without thought, only the worry of what had marked him up like that. Her fingers explored gently though, minimizing contact, but only for concern to his pain.*
"Sweet Lord! What happened?" *Her eyes were worried as her body grew tense once more.*
