"Mmm..."
*Brandi embraced Kris again, this time in tenderness instead of desperation. It was nice. Not as nice as being with Cry-Baby, but then again, she could do this with just the two of them.*
"Funny...you seem realer to me than anyone in a long time."
*She sighed, taking in the subtle smell of her.*
"Thanks. It means a lot."

Kris grinned.
"Thanks," she said. "I feel... I mean, most of the time, I feel not... all here. Y'know? Or maybe not."
She brushed Brandi's hair back from her face.
"Wish I could take some of your drama. Not cause I want it. Just... lighten your load."

*Brandi gave her a reassuring squeeze.*
"You do. I don't know...how I'd face this alone."
*Her eyes still held the sadness, but she looked better, more prepared. Sheepishly, her brows lifted.*
"Don't suppose you could go for some brownies. They might help too."

Kris laughed softly.
"I could always go for brownies," she said. She glanced at the cradles. "Will they be okay?"

*Brandi glanced back to them, her eyes tender at the sight of them sleeping.*
"Yeah, probably. They tend to be good sleepers. We can always come back up for the eating."
*She smiled genuinely at Kris, pulling her by the hand towards the door.*

***NEW NIGHT***
*Brandi made it to the room, basket in hand and Kris and Lolcat close behind. Setting down her basket and shutting her eyes for a moment, she managed to manifest 4 new cribs. It was certainly getting crowded in here. She sighed, out of breath for a moment as she fell back against the fall like the wind was knocked out of her. But she looked all right, relatively speaking.*

Kris glanced at Brandi and in an instant was at her side, her expression anxious.
"You okay?" she asked softly. Lolcat was beaming into one of the baskets, waggling his wide face in front of the girl baby. "What's up with him?"

*Brandi stretched her neck slowly.*
"Yeah...just a lot to come up with at once. Makes my head hurt. But glad to have 'em."
*She glanced at the baskets and the kitty next to them.*
"I think Lolcat is looking to adopt."
*She offered a tired smile.*

"U HAS HOOMANS," he supplied. "LOLCAT HAS KITTEN."
Kris nodded.
"Oh, I see. Well..." She glanced at Brandi. "I guess that's... nice?"
She straightened up.
"Okay. What can I do? You look bushed--give me orders."

*Brandi slumped into the rocking chair in the corner.*
"You're a saint. Really...I just wanted to make sure they were dry and warm. You really don't mind?"
*She smiled hopefully.*

"Nope," she said. "That's what I'm here for."
She wasn't actually certain of that, but it sounded good. She took the little bundles from their baskets and tucked them into their cradles, folding fresh, dry blankets around them. They were so tiny; and she couldn't imagine how a little dancer like Bonnie-Marie had carried four of them to term.
Lolcat followed her around, and when she tucked the little girl in he curled himself around the baby, carefully not to put any weight on her but lending extra warmth. Kris glanced at Brandi, a question in her expression.

*Brandi smiled and shook her head.*
"I'm fine, really. I just...I wasn't expecting to double numbers tonight."

"I get that," she said. "But I meant the cat. I mean, is he okay... with her?"

"Oh!" *Brandi look surprised, then perplexed, like she was sorting something.*
"I'm pretty sure he's all right. He likes her enough to not try to eat her or anything."
*She shrugged.*
"Figure she'll have worse to face...by the end."
*A sadness washed over her, as she was suddenly worried for all of them and what they might have to endure.*

Kris was silent for a moment.
"Yeah," she said. "I guess... I mean, he can't want them for anything good."
She gazed at the infants, close in age but already differentiated from one another. Then she turned to Brandi, decision in her face.
"So. Your turn. What do you need?"
