*Valmont caught Rochester's eye. Flashman was much louder than they were, habitually, in their pursuits, and he had no real anticipation of winning this one.* "Too rich, eh?" *he murmured.* "Not your gamble?" *Rochester did his very best to look casually disinterested. Or at least not distracted. He made a good show of it, shaking his head.* "Lovely ride, but I don't see any reason not to share the wealth." *He arched his brow.* "I'll know what I'm in the market for when I see it."

*Attempting to follow his thoughts--or perhaps they were just his own--Valmont winked.*
"Something younger, perhaps?"

Marvellous wench! She'll be hollering 'Roger' at the ceiling before midnight if I'm any judge. And I am."Experienced?" said Flashy with a quizzical look, "Well I suppose so... to be honest I've seen action under some of the finest you know. Served in some of the hottest places you can imagine. And I hope I've always given of my best." A grin, just for her view, that was entirely scoundrel, dropping the pretense just for a second since she was obviously playing the game with her eyes open. "It's my calling, d'ye see? Flashy never fails." "Well Flashy, I must confess you've won me over." *That was what she liked about being on holiday- she could have her usual appreciation for sin without the customary punishment of it.* "And what part of town- or lodging- would a man as knowledgeable as yourself prefer?"

Thank you, thank you ladies and gentlemen, one and all, glad you enjoyed our performance tonight, do tell your friends, and God save the Queen.
"Hmm," Flashy stroked his chin thoughtfully, "Depends on what you'd prefer, ma'am," he said.
"I understand Paris has some fine galleries, museums, but there's so much to choose from do you see,"
An idea struck him.
"I do have a John Murray guide to the city, shows all the best spots, 'tis in my hotel room just a short walk from here. Capital idea's just struck me, why don't we pop up there, have a quick shufti - sorry ma'am, look- and plan our excursion accordingly."
Twice around the Mountains of Lucy before a nice trip to Flashy's Horn aboard the Good Ship Venus sounds like just the ticket.

"Perhaps..."
*He shrugged indifferently waiting on some Joss-shaped siren to show and kept a keen eye. He hoped he could still do this. It had been a while, after all.*

*Johanna entered the room, unconsciously tugging at her sleeves. So crowded, so loud...but crowds meant she could move around, and no one could lock her up.*

"Capital idea, ma'am," said Flashman offering his delightful new companion his arm, "If there's one thing I enjoy it's plunging in as deeply as I can into the culture of a place, especially in the company of one so charming."
Good night's work, Flash, he told himself. A win on the tables, spread the blunt around to foster the reputation as a fine fellow, and now an evening with this top class totty who looks full of more French tricks than a Bridge club in Calais.
"We'll hail a cab, perhaps," said Flashman, "the weather looks dashed inclement."
Also the rear-of-cab dalliance was a good way to test the waters a little further, he knew. Although these waters looked as though they'd already been certified with a gold seal of approval.

There went Lucy and Flashman--well played, but a big vigorous for his taste at the moment.* "Blackjack, then?"

*Wearing a dark blue gown suited to the time and place, Ilse entered with a portly gentleman who merely needed something pretty to grace his arm for appearance's sake. She knew as well as he that even as the spirit might be willing, the flesh could not comply--such were the pitfalls of middle age. Still, she was fresh and charming and everything she ought to be but alluring--not alluring. Tonight it was not her place to be so.*

((Dude, if I'd know that other hotties would just show up, I'd have suggested we do this long ago.))
*Rochester gave a devilish grin and a nod, starting towards the new table.*
"Indeed, my good fellow, that's just the thing."
Perhaps there they will come to us.

*Valmont sat down at the table, only half focusing on the cards in front of him. He liked to win, certainly, but there were other battles more worth fighting. It didn't help that his companion seemed... off.*
"You're not hiding it well," *he drawled.*

*After acquiring attire more appropriate to her new form, the woman--clad in a simple dress that, while fashioned after the present-day design, had a strange 20th-century feel to it--flounced into the gambling hall, all smiles as she siddled up to a card table*
"Hello, hello, how are you all on this glorious day?" She crowed. Her rather peppy attitude was getting odd looks, but she didn't give a flying fig about that. She was having fun with this.
