"No, YOU sing the note. I only hum because I can do no better," *said Andrew with mild sarcasm.* "Open into a vowel. Your voice does you no good simmering in the back of your throat with your mouth closed."

*He rolled his eyes and flicked the hair again, standing straighter and opening his mouth to sing the note.*

"...Good," *said Andrew lightly, abandoning the accompaniment and segueing into a fuller melody of his own composition, his long fingers moving almost idly across the keys.*

*Xavier was impressed, once again.*
"Are you a concert pianist?" *He asked, sitting on the bench beside Andrew but not touching the keys. Anyone who could play like that tended to be, if they were hanging around the Opera house.*

*Ending on a broken chord, Andrew grinned, shaking his head as he stood fluidly from the piano stool, taking up his cane.*
"An enthusiast."

"See, I was a violin enthusiast once, but that didn't work out quite so pleasantly. Leave it at the fact that my tutor left the house in a fit of despair."

"Indeed? You did seem rather...erm..."
Hamfisted.
"Uncertain...with the instrument."
*He gestured to the piano.*

"If you're ameliorating the fact that I'm useless at piano, you're quite right and there's no use trying to sidestep it." *He said, a twinkle in his brown eyes.*

"Manners--" *Andrew rapped himself on the skull lightly with his knuckles.* "Can't seem to get away from them," *he quipped with a rueful smile.*

"Seven years away from 'polite' society and I still find myself standing when someone enters the room and bowing upon meeting people. When you're raised from birth to mind them, it's quite impossible to shake the habit as an adult." *He said cheerfully.*

"So I've no hope, then, of ever becoming a ruffian?" *said Andrew dryly, rubbing his forehead.*

"Somehow I don't think ruffian would look good on you." *He said, looking Andrew up and down appreciatively.*

"Ever doomed to be the posh man about town, then, eh?" *he said, a trifle glumly, although he did take some measure of pride in his personal appearance, his clothing tastefully fashionable without being showy.*

*Xavier was in his rehearsal clothes at the moment: a black vest, black cravat, and a plain white shirt, but the vest was of a fashionable cut and the cravat tied impeccably. He smirked a little.*
"I take that to mean you wish to come off as a rogue?" *He teased.*

"I'd like to think I at least have a range of expression at my disposal. It can be so terrible at times to have the world size you up in a single glance without a thought towards the complexity of the truth."
