*Xavier sat with his vocal coach, working on Nessun Dorma despite the fact that he didn't have the role. He was clearly suited to it perfectly, and it made him angry that that boy had gotten the part. His voice was pure and strong, and the sound of it filled the room. The vocal coach departed after a while, having another lesson to get to. Xavier sat himself down at the piano and practiced the song again.*

*Andrew paused in the doorway, listening, then entered, shaking his head.*
"Here, let me," *he said, gently moving to take Xavier's place at the piano.* "You cannot support your voice while sitting down and you're butchering the tempo while trying to find the right key."

*Xavier frowned, turning up to see who it was.* "I've never claimed t..." *He vaguely recognized the face. His glare was off of his face in a second, and he looked at the younger man for a moment, trying to decide where he knew him from.* "Do I know you?"

"Possibly," *said Andrew, leaning his silver-handled black pimp cane against the piano and laying his fingertips against the yellow and black keys.* "Andrew Blakeney. If we've met I'm afraid I don't recall."

*Xavier stood. He believed he'd met the man in the auditorium some years ago... hm.*
"As for the banging on the piano, it's not what I was trained to do and my vocal coach has recently departed for another engagement."

(('Verse-years. It's only been, like, six months in Andrew's world.))
"So thank God I stepped in when I did and please stick to your specialty from now on," *said Andrew, frowning intently at the sheet music.* "Where do you come in?"

*He pointed to the appropriate measure, glad not to have to play the piano.*

"Right. Two bar introduction...two...three...and--"
*He began to play smoothly the accompaniment. Flawlessly, in fact.*

*Xavier was impressed, he had to admit. His voice matched the song and the piano perfectly, and was as flawless as the accompaniment.*

"That last bar again--don't let yourself go flat just because the finish line is in sight," *Andrew played a bar to lead in to the final crescendo.*

*He'd admit that he'd had trouble with the note before. His coach had mentioned it, both in Italy and here. He corrected it.*

"Better," *said Andrew with a short nod.*

*He shuffled through his sheet music for the Opera, and pulled out Un giuramento atroce, his plead with the prince, and Figlio del cielo, his song with Turandot and Calaf.*
"Could you play the accompaniment Figlio del cielo? I'm having trouble finding this note..." *He pointed it out on the sheet. Whatever connection his coach had given him, it wasn't working, and he found it impossible to find the note in the chord.*

*Andrew played the cord, then the individual note.*
"It's right in the middle, you hear?" *he said softly. He hummed the note himself as he played it. His voice was neither trained nor particularily strong, but pleasant nonetheless.*

*Xavier scrutinized the score for a moment, nodding to himself before humming the note. Andrew was attractive, he realized. He subconsciously flicked his hair out of his face and popped on knee as he folded his arms.*
