***NEW DAY***
*Brandi ducked in with a quick nod to Jeremy, then headed upstairs. Manifesting a knob for the door, she hurried inside, only to pace in hopes that Sarah would be there soon.*

After settling things at the school, she'd come here straightaway. Giving Jeremy a wave, she headed upstairs, wondering what news Brandi had for her.
"Hey," she said, closing the door behind her.
"Came as soon as I could."

*Brandi stood with an anxious smile.*
"Course. I'm just glad you made it in one piece."
*She gestured at a table that bore some snacks and a comfy chair or two, then took her own.*
"It's been a while since I've seen you, so I'm glad you're ok."

She smiled as she sat down across from Brandi.
"God, yes it's been...ages, since I saw you or Kris. But, you know how it is around here--plot eats you up. But I'm glad to see you're ok, too."

*Brandi shook her head easily.*
"Things are busy, but ok right now." *She knocked the table habitually.*
"But I'm afraid that yours might just be reving up. I had a visit. From Maria. She was looking for you. I figured that it wasn't a good thing, you know?"

At the mention of Maria's name, Sarah stilled, feeling a chill go down her spine.
"Oh, god...she didn't do anything, did she? She didn't harass your or your guests?"

*Brandi shook her head.*
"I don't think so. I mean, not me at least. And I haven't had any complaints. But she wanted to know where you were. And I'm guessing that her intentions are likely less than honorable."

She heaved a sigh of relief, though the relief didn't last long.
"Shit. I just got back from a crazy adventure, too. But I'm glad she didn't cause any trouble. I'd hate to think any of you got hurt just for associating with me."
A horrid thought suddenly struck her, and she leaned forward earnestly.
"She didn't say why, did she? No clue to what she was up to?"

"I've had worse." *Brandi muttered (mostly to herself.) But as Sarah leaned forward, Brandi's brow lowered in thought.*
"She didn't say anything specific, just that she was very eager to find you. Very."

She breathed in slowly, and just as slowly exhaled.
"I think...I need to run home soon. I may be jumping to conclusions, but...I'm suddenly worried about Jay."

*A twinge of guilt inkled, left over from that thing with Hedonism and Gatsby ages ago.*
"Of course. Uh...how is he? Ya'll doing ok?"

She nodded.
"Oh, yeah. We got home all right and in one piece, settled back into normal life. He knows about Maria, but...he doesn't know everything."

*Brandi pursed her lips.*
"Gotcha. Then...I shouldn't keep you. I just needed you to know that Maria was onto you. And if you're worried about Gatsby, you should go to him."
*She stood slowly.*
"But if you guys need anything, you just let me know."

She stood, too, trying to keep calm. But the more she thought about Maria just showing up at the Gatsby Estate, the harder it was.
"I appreciate you warning me. When it's about her, it's pretty much guaranteed to never be good."
She paused to give Brandi a quick hug before heading for the door.
"Thank so much! And next time we talk, I promise, it'll be normal stuff."

Jayne sat at the opposite end of the room nursing a now half-empty bottle of scotch. She knew that technically speaking she shouldn't be there as she wasn't really a suethor, but if it came up she was fully prepared to justify it. And besides, she needed some time to prepare herself to deal with the 'Verse as a whole. And she'd need a drink. A good drink. So here she was, the fictional girl in the real people's playhouse. Not that it mattered. See, she knew that if there was a version of D here, then that meant somewhere out there a similar version of him was a member. And, knowing Dylan, he would probably bring in someone with the purpose of breaking his stu!self. Then, not the type to stop at one bad guy, he would probably bring in his favorite villain: Jack of Blades. Which of course meant that things would get really bad once he found a plot for Jack.
"To Dylan! The boy who's going to kill us all!" Jayne said sarcastically, raising her glass and not caring if she interrupted anyone.
