*Scarlett patted her hand condescendingly.*
"Why, of course you could! Whyever not?"
Ergh. She's just like Mellie!
"You have fine connections, and, er, skills. And a lovely complexion."

"No, I like being in Paris," Bonnie-Marie repeated shortly. "But thank you." She put a hand to her face thoughtfully, wondering just how her complexion might help her.
Glancing down, she spotted her suitcase. "Oh! Um..." What was she supposed to say? She was fairly certain she'd been invited in to stay, but now she panicked (again). What if she asked where to put her suitcase and they laughed at her? Her eyes widened with worry.

((Dude, she's a mess.))
"You can tell me if it's terribly rude, of course, but what brings you here?" *Scarlett said, desperately trying to save the conversation. And dig some gossip.*

((Dude, she's Bonnie-Marie.))
She glanced down and shifted her cloak in her lap to buy some time. "Well, I'm not taking part in the current opera and a lot of my friends have gone or are busy, so I've been feeling very lonely at the Opera Populaire these days. Plus..." Another one of her awkward pauses. "Well, I haven't been feeling like myself lately. I was hoping that coming to my family's home might help."
She had to congratulate herself inwardly. For her, that was a very good and safely vague explanation, and she'd managed to say it all without hyperventillating or saying anything particularly embarrassing.

"Then I'm sure we'll become the best of friends!" *Scarlett said, lying through her perfect teeth.* "We're sort of in the same boat, after all; and we must be cousins, too, don't you think?"

"Yes, we must be." Bonnie-Marie bit her lip, thinking. She wasn't sure who Aunt Heloise was, though the name was certainly familiar to her.

*Scarlett smiled.*
"Well then, it's settled! And maybe I can get my maid to do something with your hair."

Bonnie-Maried smiled back, only a tiny bit hurt that Miss Scarlett thought her hair needed fixing despite the fact that she'd brushed it nicely before arriving here.
Bravely, she ventured to ask, "Is there someplace I can put my things?"

*Scarlett stared at her blankly.*
"That's what servants are for, dear."

Bonnie-Marie paused for only a second. "That's what I meant. I mean, is there someplace the servants can take my things? That's what I meant."

"Of course."
*Scarlett rang a bell and some nameless servant appeared.*
"Could you take Miss de Chagny's things to her room?" *she asked sweetly, trusting the well-oiled machine of a house like this to know automatically where that might be. The footman bowed and went about his business.*
"There you go. Or did you want to go up yourself?"

Bonnie-Marie smiled at Miss Scarlett. "I would like that, actually. Not that I don't want to keep talking to you, but I want to see where I'll be staying..." She hesitated. Was this sounding rude? "Um, you could come with me, if you want..." She cringed. Did I just invite her to come up to my room with me? Of course she doesn't want to!

*Scarlett smiled with pity.*
"I'm sure you want to get settled in; you couldn't want little ol' me poking around just yet. Why don't you come find me when you're comfortable, hmm?"

Bonnie-Marie smiled again, hoping her sigh of relief was not too obvious. Miss Scarlett didn't seem to be holding her naïveté against her. "Alright, thank you."
She stood carefully, holding her cloak in a stupid-looking clump in front of her as she followed the footman up the stairs.

*Scarlett sighed as Bonnie-Marie left.*
"Great balls of fire!" *she muttered. The girl was hopeless.*
