*Haldir smiled.*
"My cousin Wild knows a poison that might kill THEM. But if Leetah should make the potion, she needs 7 plants that doesn't grow here in Lorien. We have sent three persons to the Land of Shadows on an expedition, to collect the 7 plants. When they return, Leetah and Wild will make the potion."
*His eyes looked into a distant future.*
"Then there is only one problem left: to make THEM drink the potion. But how to make them drink? They will not drink it willingly."

"Is there anything they eat that it could be mixed into?"

*Haldir shuddered.*
"The only thing they eat is meat. From living creatures. Preferably humans, or elves. And I don't want to sacrifice anyone."

*She thought back to her previous experiences*
"What about someone already dead?"

*Haldir thought about it for a moment, then he shook his head.*
"We don't have any dead persons in Lorien at the moment, and if we had, there would be problems getting the potion inside them. Besides, I have a bad suspicion that THEY only eat living persons. I fear they have a sick joy of hearing their victims scream in pain while getting eaten."

*She frowned*
"Can they be shot with arrows dipped in the poison?"

*Haldir sighed.*
"Believe me, we have tried everything to get rid of them. This potion Wild knows about is the only way. But we have to make it first. Then lure them to drink it. Perhaps by sneaking into their cave and mix it in their water."

"A very dangerous task. Is there anyone brave enough?"

*Haldir smiled.*
"Our problem is the opposite. We have too many brave volunteers. We will have problems picking the right group."

"People you can trust not to make a mess of things, I suppose."

*Haldir turned around and looked at the queen. There was suddenly an aura of frost around him.*
"Are you questioning my authority, or my ability to judge a character? In that case I suggest you and your husband tries to stop this things by yourselves!"

*She was clearly surprised- and a bit confused*
"I beg your pardon? I meant you would pick the best people. I'm not sure where you got the impression I didn't trust you..."

*Haldir looked at her. He had spent his entire life training to be a commander. And then a little human woman who had never faught in a battle in her life tried to question how he did things? He could have expected that from the king, but not from her.*
"First you question my people's bravery, and then you question if I trust them not to make a mess of things? I look at these questions as an insult to my people. And I will NOT tolerate that."

Insult? And I thought Steerpike was paranoid...
"I deeply apologize if that was how my words came off. I assure you, that wasn't what I meant. I was with you at the battle of the grail, I saw your people fight- I know you are reliable."

*Haldir calmed himself. The grip around his sword loosened.*
"Let me give you a piece of advice, your majesty. You have more enemies in the kingdom than you are aware of. You need the army to remain royal. Select carefully what you chose to say about the elvens who have chosen you as their queen. The crown they so willingly put on your head can just as easily be withdrawn. And there are strong powers in the kingdom, working very hard for that to happen. My sister is only one of your enemies."
