*Darcy rose, following her. His eyes shifted as if he was searching the corner of the room for what to say.*
"Forgive me; on our last meeting I failed to catch your name." *He was not certain how she was connected with the house, but she could not be a maid.*

"I think the circumstances hardly necessitated an introduction," *she said coolly.* "You certainly offered no civilities of any kind. Excuse me, at present I am heavily occupied."
*She turned to leave the foyer, her shapely nose tilted to a higher angle than she usually held it at.*

*Darcy stared after her, chagrin warring with amusement within him. She was dreadfully unmannered, but she spoke crisply and with such confidence that it was difficult to remember she had no call to look down on him.
Well. She hardly cared for his opinion, and he was not altogether certain he wished to endure any more of her notice. Her hair, though, was really the most remarkable shade.*
