***NEW NIGHT***
*Sarah wandered into the motel. It was then that she realized that it was rather like a metaphor for her existence right now. Wandering...listless. Normally a bath would help, but...they hadn't been helping recently. She felt like a prune from the whole thing. She didn't want to think on it too hard, just wanted a place to sleep off the day. She looked around for some sign of life.*

Norman emerged from the office, smiling at the sight of a new customer. A little more shyness, and one might have mistaken him for the boy-man he used to be. He took his place behind the desk.
"Good evening," he said. "May I help you?"

*Comes in wearing a flower-dusted apron*
A customer!
Wait, what's your rush? What's your hurry? You gave me such a fright I thought you was a ghost!
*Maria poked her head into the room, having heard voices. Upon seeing Sarah--a vampire!--she beamed and walked all the way in, stopping by Norman's side*

*She smiled at the seemingly nice man behind the counter, then looked a touch surprised to see the woman at his side, but bowed her head to both politely. To think, so much fuss for little old her.*
"Hello, I was hoping to rent a room, if any are available."

"Of course," he said, smiling. "Seven, in fact. How about number 3?"
He pulled the book out and opened it, offering Sarah a pen. "Just sign here."

"Oh, thank you." *She answered brightly, sighing the book.*
"How much?" *She opened her purse, searching through it.* "And do you rent by the week? If not, daily is fine."

"Either," he said, just happy for the custom. "But would you like to include board with your room? We have a fine selection."

*Sarah looked at him a bit odd for a moment. Well, it wasn't as if she ate, not was it? Not in the typical sense. But she was quick to smile again and shook her head.*
"Oh, no thank you. I prefer to dine out."
*She laid several notes on the counter (what she'd been paying at the Hilton) and looked up to him hopefully.*
"Will that cover the week?"

"Oh, it definitely covers it," she said, finally speaking. If a brief glimpse of longer-than-usual canine teeth flash by, she didn't notice.

*Sarah turned to the woman with a delighted smile.*
"Oh thank you."
*She closed the book and looked up between them, awaiting her key.*

The old Norman would have given her her change. This one merely scooped the money up and in the same motion retrieved the key and handed it to her.
"Let either of us know if you require anything else," he said. "The windows are fully sealed from sunlight and the rooms soundproofed." He smiled charmingly. "Enjoy your stay."

"Pleasant dreams," she said sincerely. Sarah's appreance had lifted her spirits.

*Sarah looked a little surprised by his comment, but it did not deter her smile. She nodded to both of them appreciatively.*
"Thank you. Thank you very much."
*She wandered off to find her room.*

*Maria had to almost stop herself from jumping up and down happily*
"This is wonderful! Our gamble is finally starting to pay off!"

Norman grabbed her about the middle and lifted her up.
"It is!" He kissed her soundly. "Here's to many more!"
