**THIS IS ACTUALLY ED WOOD**
*Edward set Christine's bag down in front of the counter and rang the bell for service. He'd seen the place a few days ago and had thought it looked clean and unnoticed. Perfect for a runaway bride.
A very pale dark-haired man stepped out of the inner office and smiled. There was something nervous about him. Ed liked him very much.*
"A room, please," *he said.* "Two rooms, that is--one for me, and one for the young lady."
*The man nodded.*
"We've only got one room full, so you've got your pick. I'll... I'll put you at the other end. Might as well have some privacy."
*If there was another untoward about the suggestion of requiring privacy, neither man seemed to notice.*

"Welcome," *Norman said to the young... couple. Well, it wasn't his place to pry.
Especially not with... things as they were.*
"I'm sure you'll be very comfy here."

*Christine thought there was something strange about the place- something she couldn't put her finger on. But then, anywhere was better than where she had been.*

"See, Christine? What a nice guy."
*Ed offered his arm to Christine and followed Norman down to the end of the motel. Norman gave him the keys and nervously told them to ask him if they needed anything.*
"So," *Edward said," *which room do you want?"

"It doesn't matter."
*She looked around*
"Well, it certainly is out of the way. He wouldn't think to look here."

*Edward nodded happily.*
"Well. You take the inner one. Nine, is it? So I'll be closer to the street."

*Norman turned and watched the couple for a moment. Something was pawing at his brain, trying to dredge up a memory. It was like a dream, but he could swear he'd seen the man's face before. He couldn't forget such a face, could he? Unless it had been during one of his... episodes.
He gasped and one hand flew to his chest.
It was him. The hair was dark, and he was dressed like a man, but he'd seen this man before... as a woman.
A woman he'd tried to kill.
He saw the other man staring at him, a sort of recognition threatening to dawn in his eyes, and Norman hurriedly turned away.*

*Christine looked between the two men*
"Do you know each other?"

*Edward squinted after him as Norman disappeared.*
"He looks familiar."
*He shrugged.*
"Nah; it's gone. Oh well!"

*Christine turned to her door*
"Once again, I'd like to thank you for doing this."

*Edward smiled warmly.*
"You're welcome. Actually, I feel nervous leaving you alone. Are you sure you'll be alright?"

*Christine blushed*
"Well, I did just get married...I'm not sure how I feel about sleeping in the same room as another man."

*Edward blushed even more hotly than Christine.*
"Oh! No, I didn't mean... I mean, I just meant... Not sleeping! If you're going to sleep right away I guess you must be fine and I'll leave you alone just let me know if you need anything okay?"
*He spun around and into his room.*

"Ed, wait..."
*She went over to him, blushing*
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have made that assumption."

*Edward smiled a little too brightly.*
"Aww, shucks. It's fine! You've been through a lot, I know. I bet it's hard to trust anyone, huh? I understand. Just don't want to see you hurt, is all."
