*Virginia shook herself free of Sylvia's embrace, even as she longed to dissolve into tears and have them brushed away by her friend's hands.*
"I've done this FOR you, Declan," *she explained after a moment.* "Don't you see that this is best for us both? You said it yourself--you'd never make a--a prostitute your wife. Now it's certain--it can never be so."

((Unfortunately, I'm too far gone at this point... Im a greek Goddess. I've been known to go into legendary fits of jealousy. not only three against one. two plus a goddess aginst one.))
"Good." *she released him.* "Next time, do not tempt me."

*Virginia looked at Aphrodite.*
"Don't hurt him--please. Just let him go."

((Dude, I tried. He was a jerk when I did my best to appease him.))
*Sylvia reached out to Virginia again.*
“Please.”

"Oh, do not fret, Miss. I'm rather afraid there will not be a next time." Declan lifted his head and glared at Virginia with eyes that held less warmth than ice.
"And so you went this far just to ensure that we wouldn't marry? You should have just said it right out." He lifted his chin defiantly.
"Well, then, good-bye forever, ladies." Declan stormed out, slamming the door closed.

*Sylvia turned to Virginia, checking her over quickly.*
“What happened? Did he hurt you?”

"He didn't hurt her." Aphrodite said, ill-humouredly. "I was here most of the time, and any serious damage would have taken a bit longer." Aphrodite looked at Virginia, and her eyes softened. "There are better ways to make a man leave than convincing him you aren't worth chasing after."

"No," *she mumbled, drawing her robe tighter around her shoulders and retreating to a far corner of the room.*
"I'd like to be alone, please..." *she said, willing her voice not to shake.*

*Sylvia turned to the goddess, her head bowed.*
“Thank you. I am in your debt. But I’m sure that you were already quite aware of that.”

*Aphrodite nodded.*
"If that is what you need, then Sylvia, I suggest we leave her. Debt with a goddess is a powerful thing... do not enter into it lightly."
((okay, I've got to go. see you all in the morningtime. preferably the library so that Sylvia and I can talk on slightly more relaxed terms.))

*Virginia rubbed at her aching forehead with her hands before finding they were still covered with a light sheen of scented oil. She pulled a face and went to the washbasin, scrubbing all traces of the encounter from her skin.*
