*Jekyll smiled sheepishly.*
"Then I suppose you didn't need me to lead you here, did you? Well. Then you will be in a position to tell me if it will do."

"I don't mind you escortin' me. Keeps th' ruffians off."
*She smiled at the room around them, the place starting to get a 'home' feeling to it*
"An' this is a good inn. They take right nice care of you."

*Jekyll wasn't certain that meant the same thing to both of them, but he nodded. His bed was made now.
He reminded himself not to think about beds with her around. This was going to be entirely too taxing.*
"Good. Then let's see about--Oh. Hello, miss."
*Kris had appeared at the behest of her suethor since Brandi wasn't around. She hadn't exactly been hired, but she figured it was okay to find them rooms and let Brandi know later. So that's what she did.*
"Adjoining, please," *Jekyll pointed out.
Kris nodded, trying not to betray anything on her face that might convey her doubt at the whole separate rooms thing remaining tenable.*
"Here you are Sir, Ma'm. Rooms 12 and 13."

*Lucy smiled at Kris*
"Thank ye, miss. I appreciate it."

*Jekyll set his small traveling case down and carried Lucy's bag into her room. Even that felt scandalous, like an intrusion. He smiled tightly at her after the other girl left.*
"I'll be next door. If anythig happens."

*He was being a bit stiff, for somebody that was with a friend.*
"'preciate that, 'enry. Yer right good to me an' I don't know why you go through th' trouble."

*Jekyll softened, smiling at her.*
"No? Well, maybe I don't need a reason."
*He paused, wanting to reach out for her, but stymied by both his shame and his guilt at seeing her with Hyde earlier.*
"You deserve it, my dear. Don't ever doubt that."
((I'm wondering if we should move threads?))

((Well, once they go into their respective rooms, sure))
*She honestly couldn't believe that somebody like him had come into her life. Bad luck was sort of her run, really. She beamed at him*
"Thank ye. Ye won't regret it, I promise."

*Jekyll smiled at her, but it did not reach his eyes.*
"Nor you," *he said. Hesitantly he reached out and brushed her cheek with his fingers.* "I promise."

*The contact sent a delightful shiver through her*
"Er...well, then. Guess I'll be seein' you later?"
*She didn't really WANT to leave, just now, but couldn't think of a way to keep him here."

*Her smiled touched him more than he was willing to share. He felt tired, and old.*
"Undoubtedly," *he said gently.* "I'll be next door, should you need anything."

*She nodded, still at a loss for how to keep him here longer*
"Ah'll be readin' a book, or tryin' to, anyway."

*Jekyll hesitated, his curiosity piqued despite himself.*
"Indeed? What book?"
*He chided himself for sounding surprised by it--he shouldn't assume only people like him liked books.
Besides... he wasn't sure what kind of a man he was, anymore.*

*She colored slightly, a little embarrassed but not knowing why*
"Er, poems. By a chap named William Blake."
