*Faye dragged her feet as she went unwillingly home out of sheer habit.*
"Not that I need a home..." *she muttered as she floated through the back entrance into the kitchen and sat at the table with her head in her hands.
The sound of shouting and blows drifted in from the coffee-room and she shut her eyes.*
I am NOT dealing with that right now. Let them beat the tar out of each other for all I care.

*the next morning, Faye sat very still, very quietly at the table*

"It's open!" *called Faye wearily, rubbing her aching head. Somehow it didn't seem fair that even those without a corporeal body could get headaches.*

Richard flung open the door and darted inside, muttering under his breath.

*Faye's glance was wry.*
"Have a good time?"

"I do NOT want to talk about it," said Richard.

"You won't HAVE to," *muttered Faye darkly.*

"Thank you," said Richard sounding sincere but with an edge to his voice. He went upstairs to his room and downed a vial of the foul-tasting elixir before coming back down to the kitchen again.
"Are you all right?" he asked slowly.

"I owe you an apology," *she said quietly.* "Evidently you are still a king in death."

Richard frowned in confusion. "I beg your pardon?"

*Faye stood up from the table and crossed her arms, her redhead's temper simmering quietly as she spoke evenly, rage biting her words.*
"I said you're still a king, even in death. How ELSE would that explain how you can get away with rutting with some cheap whore whereas I have to risk my very existence for two minute's conversation with the man I love more than anything?"

Richard was momentarily lost for words.
"It has something to do with the position. I'm... I'm sorry. To be honest, the last thing I remember is getting a bottle to the table. But Faye- I put myself in you ((not in that way, pervs))! That might protect you... for now..."

"I've already been punished, Richard! I've already had to put Aimery and myself through hell! I've already been shown the emptiness I face for breaking the laws." *She rubbed her arms, shaking uncontrollably with anger and confusion.* "What have you seen of the non-life that waits for me beyond heaven and hell? Why should you be exempt from the sacrifices the unwashed peasants have to make?"
